It’s now September 2023 and this is still an issue. Agent taking up 4GB of memory on a Mac Mini.
I just kick Agent [force] closed from time to time. Not ideal, but not excessively inconvenient either, at least.

That’s what I’ve been doing too, but very annoying because it ends up forcing swap memory to be used with how much it’s taking up.
Generally speaking, just never leave battle.net open. Use it to update and launch games only, otherwise close it always

Agent continues to run for a bit even if you close bnet. 
no more than a minute. if it’s staying open it’s cause it’s hung
