I finished all my work early today, was happy and going to try to relax and hit up some battlegrounds and grind out some honor. Waited about 20 minutes in queue for WSG/AB. Got into AB, mage instantly gave me some mage water. I was like hell yeah thanks man! Gates open up and 15 marshals roll through immediately 5 capping us, grave yard camped at the spawn. Okay just one BG no sweat…
WSG pops right after I get out of AB, we all buff up even formed a good tactic. Gate opens and another premade comes through, immediately GY camped again…
Okay well two in a row is just bad luck. I’ll come back later! A couple hours later I queue, same thing. Exact same scenario happens again. What can a random group of 10-15 players with half the team in quest gear and dungeon blues do against a full epic pvp geared team that blows off free action potions, limited invulnerability potions, and coordinates sapper charges on our whole group going to do?
Guys… this isn’t fun… It’s ruining my favorite past time right now. Can we please address the elephant in the room that is premade groups being able to queue into solo queue groups?
Working as intended. Unfortunately due to the nature of classic pvp, forming teams that steamroll pugs is the most efficient hph. What you want is TBC pvp, where there is no real incentive to premade (outside arenas for obvious reasons). TBC bgs are extremely casual where the biggest complaint will be afk leechers mooching.
While yes I’d love to deep dive into some TBC PvP as it was my favorite expansion. But the present is classic and we should find a way to remedy this as it’s ruining battlegrounds for a good chunk of the pvp community.
Sorry to hear about your experience. It is pretty common and there are many threads in here about it. I’ve never understood blowing all the consumables on PUGs. I’ve done multiple PUGs before and run into the same thing, like 10 games in a row against high-rank premades. It’s dishearting for sure. I ran with a premade too so once they formed I’d go back and we’d often beat them but it sucks for people who PUG all the time and are trying to have fun
Tuesdays/Wednesdays are days you will get the most premades. High rankers have honor caps and the alliance rankers tend to get to their goal by Saturday or so. The best option is to BG on Sundays and Mondays, especially Mondays, when these high rankers have capped. The second option is to find a premade on your realm that you can run with. Not all premades are super hardcore. Premades are looking for priests often too.
I doubt a 15 helmet premade is blowing consumes on green and blue pugs because they don’t need to. Consumes are used when going up against other premades
What you can do is ask around in your server discord
/discordapp.com/invite/gdMgnWg
for the PVP discord link (if it’s separate) and join up with others like you. Queue times are the same, you don’t have to min/max or bring consumes or match team comp (and priests are always in demand) and its a lot more fun.
Oh I can assure you the enemy premade teams just see horde and immediately blow off sappers. Not all groups but a lot do. I was just describing the ‘battle’ I played in earlier. Joining a premade doesn’t help but worsen the situation for others. I can assure you if i stand in the horde battlemaster hut I’ll get at least 5 whispers to join a premade group as a priest. I also prefer to solo queue as I can stop whenever without interrupting the group.
It seems to me, based only on 1 day so far since we reunited battlegroups, that Eastern battlegroup players are on average significantly better than Western.
its going to be sad for battlegrounds now, that they put west coast battle group back into east coast, now they will be premades all day everyday mostly because of ranking.
Sad but true.
It’s because the undergeared people leave once they see what’s going on, where as the undergeared and undermount speeded will remain and persist even on alts to get reduced AV mount and BiS gear for PVE guides.
