Until the end of wotlk, raids could form and walk into battlegrounds fully formed. This allowed guilds and friends to play together … sometimes lasting days.
This was removed around the end of lich-king, forcing us to the 5-man limit. This forced people to group with players that were… less then desirable (ie: bots, fisherman, afk’rs, etc). This quickly led to fewer people queuing for bgs (where’s the fun carrying bots and afk’rs?)
will we FINALLY be able to go back to the way it was?
If blizzard allows for a GroupFinder capability, then people could easily form larger groups for the various bgs
i believe they should remove solo queuing in current retail now. This would require people to find groups for the bgs they want to do. 10man, 15man, and epic 40mans … similar to how raids are done via the GroupFinder today. Done this way, every game would be premade v premade allowing people the CHOICE whether or not to carry the dead weight. It would also allow guilds and friends to play together again
No, no and no to any group finder built in or available through addons. That’s what chat channel are used for. That’s how it was and how it should be.
If you can’t beat a premade via a solo que… then find some friends and group up and make your own premade.
I am saying you didn’t all que up though in one que. You had to join a raid, have everyone que up at the same time, and then hope you got in. There wasn’t the “Que as group” for a raid in vanilla.
When BGs were realm specific it was fun to play against premades in WSG and AB because you got to know all the regular players who did BGs and could sort of coordinate well enough to have a good chance of winning. After cross realm BGs started it became more rare for a pug to beat a premade and wasn’t as much fun anymore.
(And no to GroupFinder or anything like it in Classic)
My memory is getting bad, will we be going to the BG entrances like early BGs, or going to the BG recruiters in the city like it was later? (I don’t remember what patch changed that)
This was a premade of about 35 horde on the Kel’thuzad server. We comprised a number of different guilds and were among the better pvpers on the server.
We used no add-on or other tricks to queue together. At the time you queued at the battlemasters and were able to monitor how many instances of AV were being played. We would then queue in mass, force a new AV to start and join together - usually getting at least 30 of our 35 players into the same AV.
The speed run was done mostly for s**** and giggles, and to see how quickly we could finish AV. More regularly we ran full honor AV battlegrounds. There we would get full honor and three tokens in between 10 and 13 minutes - usually in the 11 and change ballpark.
The methods used here should still work today (the toughest part is always getting 35 people who can work together).
