I would like to propose a change to the Battleground weekend length and rotation. This is to primarily to get more people motivated to queue during the week and in general in both Classic Era and SOD. I think testing out this change in SOD first would be perfectly fine. Hell, that is part of what SOD is trying out different changes. Right now, the overall number of people queuing is painfully low especially during the week. Ranking is very painful in general right now. WSG is the only BG people are queueing during the week. WSG is fun but it is not always fun when it is the only option during the week. It is painfully so to grind out honor in WSG especially for Alliance. Horde is probably fine with it because they win 99% of the games but might have longer queue times.
I personally like to spend my weekend doing other things like Whitewater paddling, hiking etc. BG weekends only on the weekend forces me use up my weekends if I want to rank up in a reasonable amount of time.
- Battleground weekend rotation
Current:
AV - WSG - AB - Nothing - repeating
Proposed change:
AV - WSG - AV - AB - AV - repeating of course.
- Battleground weekend length
Current:
Friday - Monday
Proposed change:
Monday - Monday basically make the BG weekly not the BG weekend.
I think this would at least get more people queueing who likely look at what it would take to rank up and see it as impossible right now. It is not impossible but feels that way and discourages people from queueing. The competition that has been created by the player base is to just join some GDKPs and buy the gear they want right away.

I think the schedule change is a good one. The weekend thing is better than weekday because thatās when most people have time off and can focus on PvP if they want to.
However, I like the idea of stimulating mid-week PvP as well. Maybe bonus Wednesdays?
Anyway, agreed that some changes would be nice here. I was thinking about this in another thread and I think AV in general is good for ranking any day of the week, not just bonus weekends, so maybe stimulating games outside of AV weekend could be a good way to just get people in the queue.
WSG and AB are always going to be there for the folks who are geared and ready to do actual PvP, but some of us poor casuals need to catch up before we can justify our presence there lol.
That is the change i was just telling my friends how it is lolā¦
Signed. Being forced to farm prime honor on the weekend is outdated.
AV weekend participation is extremely high, there are people that want to rank, but something like this proposal needs to go into effect first.
Looking at your new proposal, is that 2 AVās in a row? I would be for that. Currently I work every other weekend and am always at work on AV weekend. So having that flip every now and then would be great. Then I could actually participate.
Same.
Touching grass is good.

Era aināt going anywhere and it certainly aināt forcing you to do anything.
Schedule outdoor time all weekends but AV since you seem most interested in that.
Best of luck getting the rank/gear you want.
Without further changes to Era.

More AVs is anti-pvp. There are many options to improve honor gains for rankers that would also promote the BGs in which pvp does occur.
What Iām trying to say is that AV is good as is, we should be brining the other BGs up to par as opposed to trying to have more AV.

Favoritism towards one bg. The brain dead bg.
Stopped reading here.
I vote against you

I donāt mind more bonuses for BGās throughout the week, but it should still be spread across the 3, not AV centric. The more people feel like they can meet the entry for WSG/AB the more they will play and learn them. I started out very frustrated at WSG and now I sometimes play it for fun, if AV was too often Iād never have gotten āāoverāā the initial frustration.

As for the schedule, the only change I would accept is removal of off-week⦠thatās all.

More BG weekends⦠more⦠Might of Stormwind.
Did you see the thread Anniee made about possible ways to have a worldbuff like that? One idea we had was For Greater Honour/Call to War, where you hand in 18 of each BG token.
Yeah that person was kicked out of a GDKP guild so I canāt take what she says seriously.
cringe comment. get a life
Honestly, Iād just apply the weekend bonuses to AB/WSG fulltime, AV can have its bonus on weekends.

As a r12 whoās trying to get to r14, I think this proposal is really bad and itās just going to kill all battlegrounds besides AV completely. Which means if you want to PVP in this game you will need to exclusively sit in AV, and get yelled at by people saying youāre not grinding honor in the correct way.

I donāt necessarily see this as a bad thing. The bottom line here is that the PvP ranking system is a gigantic mess. This was true in its original implementation and it remains true today. Linking the primary reward to something thatās not related to actually winning the game is problematic. Linking the reward at all to the PvP game is also problematic. Future versions of WoW have worked to address these problems to mixed success, but they still handle it better than Vanilla did.
If my goal is to gear up so that I can be on a more even playing field with other players in PvP from a gear perspective, my choices areā¦
- Join WSG/AB and get farmed by extremely well geared and coordinated premades, orā¦
- Join AV and be at the mercy of whatever shennanigans the other 79 players in the BG get up to.
Personally, Iād much rather choose the second because itās a more accessible experience. Does that mean I donāt deserve R14 gear? Maybe⦠but in a world where people are buying better with the swipe of a credit card, I have little trouble caring. I donāt intend to swipe and am happy to grind it out, but that doesnāt mean I want to make that more painful by having to get farmed by geared teams even more. As it stands now, if you already have your title and/or gear, AB/WSG is a great place to be. If you donāt and PvP is your characterās only real option, youāre probably gonna wanna be in AV.
Regardless, if a change were to occur that makes it more attainable to get 500k honour inside a week without playing 8+ hours a day, Iād be all for it.

Things I would change.
Invisible personal rating attached to player based on their gross win / loss ratio with more āRatingā awarded for faster wins and less for slower wins. MMR would be linked to the map, so for example if youāre trash at a certain map but really good at another map you will be placed accordingly so that you always get good games appropriate to your self per that map.
Warsong Gulch
- Timer attached to the flag caps in WSG that gives you more honor regulated at 14K per hr rate.
- Flag return bonus based on how long the flag was held at that same rate.
- Marks for a win 3x and 2x for a loss.
Arathi Basin
- Awards 3 marks for a win, 2 for a loss
- Gross points awarded are increased by 3x.
For Great Honor / Concerted Efforts
- Buffed to 20K honor per turn in.
Or we can just decouple the reward from honour entirely. Like, in an ideal world where people werenāt trying to maximize honour, people would be free to choose whatever they wanted to play. At this point you might as well just reward people for time spent in BGs, including time spent in the queue to wait for one to pop (awarded after the BG completes, no reward for AFKing out). Add a 1.5x or 2x multiplier to that for winning the game and do away with marks entirely. Implement a useful non-participation system to deincentivize players being AFK the whole match and boom, now people can just play whatever they want.
The reward in WoW PvP isnāt really about skill anyway, itās always been about time investment, this just formalizes that. Furthermore, teams who are better will probably choose WSG and AB because it gives them more control over their win so they can capitalize on their multiplier. More casual players will gravitate towards AV since its more casual friendly, but the rate of progression would be the same regardless of where you are. Also, because you gain that reward by being in the queue, this gives players incentive to join it and makes games pop more quickly for all.
Sorry World PvP enjoyers, I donāt have anything for you
