Battleground Scouting

Gold influx from more efficient farming completely manipulates other players experience. Items that were 200g in Vanilla, now go for over 600g, because of other classes ability to farm.

I could see that working. A stacking deserter debuff.

Battle Grounds are just world pvp more organized in a contained environment. Most servers wouldn’t work with solely world pvp, BGs just gives people an option to pvp easier. The spirit of them is world pvp related.

I don’t want to discuss the AH, that would be a whole long topic. I am personally very against player driven economies.

No it’s not. BGs give players the option to PvP when they want, under somewhat fair conditions.

WPvP is knowing that your day could very well be ruined by someone else, because they want to spend all day ganking you. It’s knowing that a ?? player could decide to just camp you, or that a group of 20+ could just steamroll over you and your group of 5.

You will never enter WSG or AB and find yourself in a group of 5 vs a group of 80. You’ll never be a level 49 that is forced to fight a level 60.

Hopefully blizzard will use the queue as a group join as a group and also incorporate the mechanic that if people try to click join at the same time outside of group it splits them up. That with deserter should kill BG scouting.

Exactly, the conditions are already controlled to where you have an even amount of players, and should be all in the same level range. Pretty fair. Further manipulation is reducing the fairness and should be frowned upon.

People will always find ways to be more efficient. The vast majority of people that farm, don’t do it because they enjoy it. They farm because it is necessary to acquire something they want.

This is why AV is a zergfest to the other team’s boss. You could easily turn AV into a large PvP battle by capturing Snowfall GY as Horde, or Iceblood GY as Alliance. What happens when you do that? Your whole team whines about how you’re griefing them for forcing them to be in the BG longer than is necessary.

Essentially cheating isn’t efficient, unless you’re like running Enron or something. Scouting goes against the spirit of random pvp. If they intended for you to pick and choose who you fought they would have allowed you to do so without scouting.

If Blizzard had intended AV to be a race, they would have had two separate instances, and just had timers to see which side won.

If Blizzard had intended Mara and Tribute to be solo able, there wouldn’t be elites in there.

Deserter was meant to punish players for leaving BGs early, but Blizzard didn’t realize that it was a bigger punishment to stay inside the BG, than it was to eat the debuff.

It’s up to Blizzard what is allowed or not. There have been things patched that were viewed as exploits, some have even been suspended or banned for abusing certain exploits in the past.

Personally, I feel scouting goes beyond ‘Clever use of game mechanics’ and is in the realm of abusing an exploit. I hope Blizzard considers this and puts in a fix or safeguard, but in the end that is all I can do.

Blizzard said we were getting Vanilla, warts and all. The PvP system in Vanilla was one of the biggest warts that the game had. BC’s Arena solved this. You couldn’t just lose your way to a high ranking, and you couldn’t dodge other teams, unless you knew when they were queuing.

Thats pretty much how every organized group does it.

Most folks are just honor farming and arent interested in fair matches.

Arenas created a bigger wart…

People abused the arena system massively in BC. As bad as the honor system was in vanilla at least it really was just a side game and not something blizzard tried to force as an esport…

Sorta. There were changes to this version though. First one that comes to mind was layering. It was added in attempt to improve the player experience. With that, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that they could modify the deserter system.

lol no. The best players don’t have to cheat, because they are actually good.

Imagine thinking that cheating to “win” is the same thing as being a winner.

How did arenas create a bigger wart?

Honest question. Arenas meant you no longer had to worry about being in a 8 vs 15 AB. Team rating meant you couldn’t just leave to avoid difficult fights. Sure, you had new metas of pillar humping and CC spam, but new metas will always come.

Arenas as a place where you can do death matchs was totally cool and something people wanted.

But… blizzard then took arenas and turned them into an esport. Which lead to a huge amount of balance and itemizating changes based on that. And those roy8ally screwed up casual pvp and pve in general.

This could be fixed by having the BG-entry dialogue box apply the deserter buff if the BG is declined.

But we all know nothing will be done.

just create a premade yourself and avoid getting stomped by scouting teams.

doesn’t even have to be serious or good comp as long as you can avoid these players.
