I’m new to rated pvp in general, and i havent had a good time in the slightest, i dont get what im doing wrong?
I had a 10 game losing streak, finally broken, only to get 10 rating for winning. Doesn’t feel right or good after losing that much rating, and now im back to a losing streak again. I was at 1575 rating now im all the way down to 1455 with no end to losing in sight. Battlegrounds blitz only.
I’m a frostfire frost mage, i focus healers, EFC, capping points, dont fight on the road, utilize CC and defensive/lock cookies when available. I keep getting teams that don’t do these simple things. I’m never top dmg but always middle/higher. Is there something I’m missing? Something I’m not getting? Any advice or help would be appreciated.
All you can do is play your best and also if you get the feeling your team sucks you can always type in chat and use pings to try and help them focus on the objectives.
Blitz is luck of the draw when it comes to your teams. Mainly because this is the first week of the season. Over time, the good players will rise and the bad will fall or stagnate. If you have bad luck with teams it might take you longer to rise, but you will eventually.
Unfortunately that is the case in bgs. At least in arena the outcome depends on your partner or partners which varies from 1 to 2. Winning in bgs is in the hands of a lot more ppl which means, higher chances of not winning.
Most bgs are filled with garbage players that won’t listen, won’t take the time to communicate and just don’t care. Honestly is Blizzard’s fault for the most part. No guide to explain how bgs work in general or even blitz since the objectives mechanically are a bit different. Also no entry barrier at all, same players from random bgs pour in to blitz and well…. Is a disaster. There is no easy solution and even if there was, it should not come from us but from the company we pay to play their game.
Keep playing, the more you play the more am you should get better at it. It will be up and down. At the beginning of every season, is harder to earn rating so you are paired with lots of gladiator players that shouldn’t be facing lower rated players to begin with. In a few weeks or so, those players will be higher and you’ll rarely see so many. That doesn’t mean you will climb super high though. You’ll just be facing people your quality, just not going up against players higher in skill than you.
Not really. The game has found where your MMR is, mostly.
From here on, it’ll be about a 50/50 win/loss, the MMR system is designed to do that to you.
Just keep playing games, you’ll win some, you’ll lose some, hopefully you’ll win slightly more than you lose and you’ll climb rating. If you go on a loss streak, put the game down for the day, no point getting frustrated over it.
Unfortunately, it’ll continue to happen, there are players almost all the way up like this.
Arena is more personal and much more about trading CDs and anticipating go’s, if you feel you know enough about how each class interacts with yours, go for it, it’s just a game.
BGs are somewhat more chaotic since CDs could have been spent at another fight elsewhere and you’re more of a face in a crowd.
Just try not to get too frustrated with it. You’ll make mistakes, everyone does. Even at the top of the ladders.
If you have the ability, record your games. OBS will stream to an unlisted YouTube or if you have the space, it can record locally.
Even if you’re the only one who’s going to watch them, watching them back later can help, it’s difficult to keep track of what’s going on when you’re in the thick of it.
There is always room for self improvement, but it is perfectly fine for it to be incremental improvements. You cant always get your teammates to agree to a task and execute it well. The losses in solo bgs is never solely on your shoulders. Try to enjoy the enjoyable battles, focus on whats fun more than the outcome. Suggestions made by others to take a break when stressed, try a different game mode, smell some grass(whatever you enjoy that isnt wow) for awhile is healthy.
Rooting for you Calëdor
P.S. creating no go zones at the perfect choke points at the right time with Ring of Frost and Ice Wall are soooo satisfying . You can potentially save the day in flag carry maps.
Thats exactly what Blizard wants you to do…hence the current system.
@OP, you will have a lot more fun if you find a PvP group, they can teach you how to play (your character and each BG) and carry you a fair bit while you learn.
Most importantly, have fun, if you arnt having fun in losing Blitz’s all the time (most people dont), stop playing them.
Even a blizzard and orb of frost will ruin the other team’s day. Nothing like being a super speedy feral druid shifting out of all those silly DK slows and warrior charges, popping berserk to go eat the enemy FC’s face (assuming here I am not the FC), only to get stuck in an orb of frost + blizzard combo.
So yeah as a frost mage, you can definitely make some plays on certain maps to ruin the other team’s day and hopefully help you win.
Nope. There’s something weird with the matchmaking system where it will put you with terrible teams for awhile. I was hardstuck at like 1500 in the pre-expansion but after a week or two, things sorted out and I got 2100+ on multiple specs. Me and OP are going 2400 this season, but just give it a couple weeks until things shake out and the system starts working.
This game mode is not about being skilled with your class or rotation. It is about zerging objectives and being a class that can do objectives well. Its trash. Do not take it seriously.
Brother you’re NOT ALONE! My goal was to get 1600 this weekend then chill. I got to 1598, then Something happened, all I can figure is I just have ticked off a Gypsy and she put a curse on me, because I went from 1598 (just 2 points away from my goal) down 107 points to 1491…
I’ve played a lot of BGs and RBGs and this is the worse losing streak I’ve ever experienced in the entire time I’ve played WoW (I’ve played since 2004)
It’s utterly ridiculous! I was so close to my weekend goal and now I’ve fallen so far that I don’t even want to play the game anymore.
And these losses are no fault of my own. I know my job and I did my job and did it well… But Just like you I’ve seen other players just derp around.
I saw a healer go afk the entire match, another healer ran off alone to solo mines in AB while the tank spinning flag at BS had no healers because the other healer on our team was in the team fight like they were supposed to be. In BfG I saw 3 BG hero’s run to LH only to lose and left WW short with no help and one of our geared heavy hitters had to stop and cap mines leaving him out of the team fight. All because the one hunter we had ran off to LH without even capping mines.
The list goes on and on… Honestly I wish Blizzard would come up with some type of system to address these garbage PvPers.
I’m so frustrated that I don’t think I even want to play this game anymore. Which makes me sad, because I was really looking forward to this season and solo bgs.
