1070ti i7 4770k and my fps was roughly cut in half now that I can no longer use fullscreen ~_~
07/29/2018 02:08 AMPosted by TresskaThe first few pages of the original thread were full of people who refused to believe it could be real. I admit, its hard to believe a AAA game company would do this on purpose.
I wasn't on the forums much leading up to the patch so I had no clue they were removing fullscreen. When I logged in on patch day and saw my resolution and stuff was messed up I just thought it got messed up because of the updates and it would be a quick fix. Then when I saw Fullscreen was gone I was so sure it had to be a bug... Boy was I wrong. It was at that moment that my enthusiasm for BFA withered away.
07/29/2018 02:02 AMPosted by JanxxBlizzard you better not remove mouse and keyboard support..i wouldn't be surprised at this point
You see, it's all part of a plan to re-add fullscreen as a premium only option.
..Oh, wait. We're already paying a subscription..
Nevermind.
Im not having any difficulty understanding this thread or why some people have problems and some dont.07/29/2018 03:05 AMPosted by SjungaMy PC isn't terrible but I'm still rocking 100 fps.
Wonder why ya'll are having trouble. o.O

i wish they would add EFS again, leave the options and put windowed by default unless EFS brings any problem for future updates they have planned
Yeah, they really need to revert this. There's NO excuse for the change. Not everyone has a NASA level PC that can handle 4k at 120 FPS without sweating.
I'm running WoW off of a SSD, and while I didn't see a drop in framerate in going from DX11 to DX12 (rather, saw about a 10 FPS increase), there is one notable issue I consistently see.
Before this pre-patch, I'd get a loading screen that went pretty quick, less than 5 secons, and when the loading bar on the loading screen was full, the screen goes away and I find myself on my toon where ever they are located in game.
But now, after the loading bar is filled on the load screen, there is a significant delay where nothing happens EXCEPT for the cursor icon changing from the WoW cursor to the normal Windows little blue animated circle cursor, like it is thinking/working. This can go on for 5-8 seconds, longer than it takes for the loading bar to fill up.
It is almost like WoW, while loading into a new zone, briefly is giving up control to Windows itself, which is doing who knows what, but only when Windows is done doing that it's doing, does WoW get control back and the game and continue on running like normal.
In essence, my loading screen times have more than doubled, to the point where the advantage I was enjoying since moving to an SSD vs. the old 7200 rpm drive is now gone. I can only imagine what the loading screen time would be on a non-SSD.
Also, there is on every loading screen a momentary graphical glitch/burp where the menu bar from the bottom of my desktop gets briefly superimposed on top of the loading screen just before the loading screen goes away. And sometimes, but not always, there are additional elements of my desktop view that get briefly superimposed over the load screen image.
Before when I ran in fullscreen mode, none of those graphical glitches or loading screen issues were present. Now they are there and appear going to stay.

I don't get why some people feel the need to get so salty at us requesting the return of Exclusive Fullscreen? We're not asking for the removal of Windowed or Windowed Fullscreen. We just want an additional option back that we had prior to this patch.
Everyone who has twitter please remember to use the #BattleforFullscreen at blizzard. The more people who use it the better of a chance they will see it. I know its an uphill battle but as of now its the only thing we can do.

In addition, please forward forum users who are posting in other EFS threads to page 1 of this thread, using the link below. Need to unify those affected to improve our chances of Blizzard addressing this.

Noticed this over the past several days. When the patch hit, I wasn't having any issues, but it's been getting progressively worse. I don't doubt that a true fullscreen mode would alleviate my issues, because Legion ran just fine on my system.
I have no desire to upgrade my system just to play WoW when every other game I own runs just fine. Which means I'd be canceling my subscription if this isn't fixed by my next billing cycle. The headache isn't worth playing this game.

Im posting to them at least twice a day.

Let me guess they tell you to remove addons and delete wtf folder?
Why does windowed fullscreen run better on Windows 7 than it does on Windows 10? I thought it was supposed to be the other way around?

Players across the globe are complaining about this and they still won't do anything about it. Why?
Personally, I never had a decent computer, and probably never will, but I was always able to play WoW just great, for 6+ years. Even as graphics in games got better and better and it got to the point that I had to give up on practically everything else, WoW stayed consistent. And that was always one of the things I loved most about WoW, I didn't have to turn down the graphics to nothing to play and have fun. It always ran fine.
Now it doesn't. I just can't ignore the differences, I can either take an annoying blur or annoying highly-noticeable pixels. It's like having to choose my own poison. It's just not fun anymore having to slog through a game that used to be able to run on the toaster that is my computer. I miss WoW. I miss Fullscreen mode.
For those who read through my complaining, thank you. I know it probably won't do much of anything in the big picture, but I still want to do anything I can to help and bring this to the front page of General Discussion. An entire ocean is full of water droplets, right?

If nothing or very little is communicated about this before 8.1.5 or 8.2, I'm done. Maybe with all Blizzard games.
I can't understand why Blizzard is being so quiet about this when so many are getting reduced performance because of it. Personally, following some guidance by another forum goer on the tech forums, I was able to to achieve a decent pull-back to standards I'd had until the pre-patch. At the same time, I had to disable a lot of features just to suck up enough resources to get back to a playable experience.

Serious as it may be to some with people FPS problems, FPS is not my main issue with Windowed Fullscreen mode.
My issue is that you cannot minimize the game in Windowed Fullscreen mode. If you try, and go to any another window, -say, file explorer, voice chat, desktop shortcuts- WoW will pop in the BG instead of the desktop. It is seriously annoying running a single monitor setup. Enough, even, to make me post on the forums. It must be even more so with multiple screens.
I need to be able to play on full screen and minimize the game when I want to. If this is made possible in Windowed Fullscreen mode, I am ok with it.
But I also believe the best option for all is the return of exclusive fullscreen mode.

In this case I'd say that no news is good news. If their answer was a flat out "No" they probably would have said so by now.
Or maybe I'm just being too optimistic. : /

I guess that's a good way of trying to look at it.. Maybe they're just trying to get it put back in as quickly as they possibly can but don't know how long it could take so they don't say anything? I would hope but who knows... The absolute silence on this topic is so deafening..
Don't give up!

Ive been taking screecaps of these posts and tweeting them at blizzard. So far they are going ignored as expected but they seriously need to address this problem with something other than a canned response about Dx12
