Just got the “GM’s dont get involved in bugged quest issues unless one is your friend” response.
This is a bug going back all the way to vanilla. Would be nice to get a real response.
Okay so this DOES work, 10/4/2019
- be in a raid group, you need at least 10 ppl, tanks and heals
- one person in raid places bag down to start the encounter
- wait for Davil to spawn, mark him, keep him alive by having your tanks taunt and dps hard, Davil cannot be healed by you
- wait for horgus to spawn, kill him with Davil alive to move to phase 2
- Davil will RP die, this is normal
- wait for Redpath to spawn
- same as phase 1, stay on redpath do NOT let him die
- Redpath will randomly travel to the north eastern side of the fight, off to the right from the main path into town where the blood letters spawn
- (heres what we did not sure if its 100 percent correct but it worked)
- Let Redpath attack blood letters but DO not let him die
- ignore everything else, have your whole raid stand on Redpath and dps down everything
- the other guards will all die, have a mage run out and aoe gather up non-elites that spawn and bring them to red path as well to kill
- After about 15-20 minutes, and alot of dead bloodletters, the server actually shuddered for a second for the whole raid group
- Red path began franticaly running to different parts of the camp
- FOllow him and keep him alive
- redpath was about 20 percent hp when he finally made his way back to the front of the road where davil dies
- at this point the evil redpath spawned and redpath either died or disapeared
- kill the evil redpath, than everythign despawns server shuddered more
- talk to ghost of redpath to complete quest
We tried 5 times, different techinques each time, this was on a thursday night
We just did this tonight, 10/03/2019 at 11:45PM CST on Sulfuras. FINALLY GOT MY BEAR RING YEAH!

Well just followed the instructions to a T and no dice, great job blizzard!
I just did this in my third seperate raid. Multiple attempts each raid. Still no completion
Players are resulting to doing basically superstitious nonsense to make the quest work because we have no idea what’s causing it to bug and Blizzard has been absolutely silent on the issue
I seriously am freaking over this enough is enough. Why do some players get their gear and I don’t?
Nobody knows the set amount of time, nobody knows what’s proper and what isn’t, it all seems to come down to luck which is bulls hit
Every single major quest in the game that is absolutely mandatory to complete are bugged or have major issues.
In Dreams. Masquerade, Battle of Darrowshire.
All of these quests are simply unskippable, yet all suffer from major bugs or are simply broken.
The only quests in the game that are basically required come down to a coin toss whether they work or not. Gathering 10 people for a quest which half think is bugged is already a ridiculous proposition and I’ve done it three times now.

So I finally managed to complete it today on my druid, the mob actually eventually moved to the next spot and then finally completed.
Other than having 15+ people vs usually when we had only 10, we didn’t really do anything different.
So I have no idea, only took 4 raid groups to finally get my ring
Skeram server, did twice, no dice. Davil comes, retires, Carlin Redpath comes, goes off to the right , never transforms, doesn’t die, it just despawns.
Still not working on Grobbulus.
Just tried it on Deviate Delight, didn’t work. after 2 tries and over an hour of fighting waves of mobs. he just stays in the northeast of the town and it never progresses past that.
Just exploit it for XP until it get their attention.

was bugged for us too
Tried multiple techniques for over an hour yesterday and Captain Redpath never moved from his Northeast Corner. This is ridiculously frustrating that we have not heard from Blizzard for over a month on this.

The scripting for this quest worked better on (free) private servers, ran by Europeans on a microwave. Thanks for reminding me why I didn’t give this company any money for 10 years.

Fought the battle for 20 minutes and Redpath refused to leave the eastern front. No change, no advancement.
We gave up at that point.
Why this is still broken, nearly two decades later is baffling.
