Battle.net client Lite

Did anyone ever suggest Lite version of bnet client? And if so what was Blizzard’s answer? I’ve just reinstalled windows, everything is running super fast, except for bnet client, could be because of windows 7, or it’s just like that.

So anyway, was thinking Lite version could provide chat and video game access, without shop, news or ads.

So what you want is legit just a launcher. I want that too, but mate that’s not how business works.

Chat too, and if there’s news, just bare minimum. Or what we got now, but not so laggy, simplified.

I’d be okay with a launcher, that literally has no chat, no voice, no news, no ads, no shop, nothing, and just launches the game.

They will not get rid of their ads/shop. That’s what I’m trying to say. They might let you cut off chat/news/specific games from your launcher, but I promise you they will always advertise on it.

They could make them not animated, could be what makes client laggy, just a picture of something and you can click on it to view more info on that. Anything that helps boost performance.

I think it’s comparable to the ‘Streaming Service’ trend. Everyone wants to lock players/viewers into their ecosystem of products. Hard sell to sacrifice a direct line to your eyeballs for whatever promotion is hot before you login every day.

I miss the launcher for the flavor. Particularly in Cata/MoP, not sure what it was but that little hint of context just did something special for me.

Can you still fire up the game and then kill the launcher process?

After launching WoW, I just click onto one of the other games that I do not have installed, like Diablo. Then it just sits on a still pic, no constantly-streaming clips.

There is an option under Settings > General > When I launch a game >
-Keep the Battle.net window open
-Minimize the Battle.net window
-Minimize the Battle.net window to the system tray
-Exit Battle.net completely

The default is the first one (I think).
Try changing the settings and see if it makes a difference maybe?

Edit :

That’s cool, I just tried this and it works.

this reminds me of when i migrated from VHS tapes to DVDs where i wasn’t allowed to fast forward thru the ads and FBI warning

I am pretty sure the issue with Lag on Windows 7 is that the Battle.net Client uses Internet Explorer to show news and updates. You can try upgrading to IE 11 but IE is a discontinued dumpster fire as it is.

Just checked if this works

Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft_retail_
Right click on “wow.exe”
Click pin to taskbar
Use that to launch wow and don’t use the launcher at all
