Battery draining while plugged in

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018)
macOS 10.14.5
Radeon Pro Vega 20 gpu (internal, not egpu)
Using an external monitor, DVI - HDMI cable

Wondering if anyone else is seeing this…I have my graphic settings set to 5. Basically, my battery drains even while plugged into my 87 watt power supply that came with the MacBook.

If I have WoW on the external and then netflix running on the retina display then the battery drains waaaaay faster. Like I think the MacBook would be dead within maybe 3 or 4 hours.

Does anyone know the maximum power that can be accepted by this MacBook Pro? I know the stock power supply is 87 watts, but I’ve seen 3rd party chargers, and some egpu housings advertise supplying 100 watts of power.

Curious if this is worth bringing in, I did buy apple care for it.

First, never (ever) use a 3rd party charging block.

One thing that may give you a clue is to hold Option and click on your Battery icon. It will list the programs using the most energy. Try another (apple) charger, another outlet and another monitor so you can isolate what your actual problem is.

If you can’t find anything, take it to the Apple Store.

USB-C charging spec is up to 100W, so you should be able to find one somewhere.

My 15" MacBook Pro while hooked up to the 60W charger will slowly drain as well, so I need to always use the 85W charger.
