Bastion story telling was bad. Ardenweald was great

Bastion is not the best looking zone, imo, and the the story felt forced.

Ardenweald is the opposite. The flow of the story was well done. Great music and fantastic graphics. Hats off to the devs on Ardenweald.

You clearly are not a right an proper Dwarf…

ardenweald was even worse than bastion. I hate it so much. Even more than Valsharah

Everyone has a different taste.

I thought I was going to hate Ardenweald.

I completed the zone last night and was in awe. One of the best zones I’ve done in this game since 2004. Leagues ahead of Bastion and Maldraxxus. Again, different tastes.

I really like the look of Maldraxxus but the story was somewhat convoluted.

Ardenweald just felt right. While it was sappy, it was well done imo.

I wouldn’t call Bastion bad, but it’s just the way that they do things that’s just very unsettling and infuriating.

Bastion storytelling makes me #concerned . Because it really seems like the ‘good guys’ we’re helping are … kind of a thought-police-state that seeks to wipe out your personality and what makes you who you are.

And there’s a world quest where you’re sent out to muder ‘doubting aspirants’ who are yellow mobs hurting nobody.

It’s probably a good thing you don’t have any actual player agency, because I would have joined the Forsworn and tried to burn the place to the ground, too.

I’m still wanting to go Kyrian with at least one character, because I feel that Blizz is setting up a “Light is evil” theme to appease the SJW crowd.

I’ve always played a paladin for most of any expansion since Vanilla.

Ardenweald is my least favorite story among all zones. Bastion is better, though Maldraxxus and Revendreth are my top 2.

I honestly have no idea what the story of Ardenweald was. I mostly clicked through the quests and just saw the Winter Queen pop up at times. Not sure what was even happening aside from less anima and things maybe were dying as a result? It could just be that none of the storylines in any of the zones were that great or attention grabbing. Granted these zones just set the stage for the expansion and aren’t likely supposed to be the most amazing part of the upcoming content and story.

I still think Blizzard has a lot to learn in regards to telling an amazing story.

Hmm… :expressionless: :man_facepalming:

I cranked up the saturation and vibrancy of my monitor for Bastion. When I got to Ardenweald, my eyes almost blew out so I had to turn it back to normal.

It is a very tough claim to make that the storylines weren’t great or attention grabbing when you didn’t bother to read them. How on Earth would you know if they were good or not?

Yeah I am not surprised, it’s the same person who worked on Stormsong Valley and that zone FOR ME was all over the place in terms of story telling.

I wasn’t overly excited throughout Bastion even though thematically it’s my kinda thing I like.

Ardenweald was on point, Maldraxxus was nice, Revendreth suited the zone, had some cool side quests though, but playing through it was… too gloomy all the time and mobs were annoying.

My personal order is:

  1. Bastion
  2. Revendreth
  3. Ardenweald
  4. Maldraxxus

Because nobody reads quests these days. If I have to read the quest to know the story, when most quests are boring go fetch this cause of X i’ll be bored to tears. Besides all of the big story telling aspects are voiced and have chat bubbles pop in your face. All of that story was pretty meh.

Modern single player story telling doesn’t have you read 1000 quests to know what is going on. The game tells you through the dialog, environment, and gameplay you participate in. Take God Of War for example, do I have to read quests to know what is going on? Not really.

I hated the story in Ardenweald and loved Bastion.

The story in Ardenweald is so uneven. We are facing a dire threat, but half the characters don’t’ seem to take it seriously. Our sole mission is to get a mission to the Queen yet we get sidetracked on numerous unrelated things because she can’t spend two minutes talking with us. We then go off on a number of quests where the NPCs are trying to guess at what will help her, because she apparently doesn’t tell them.

The whole zone is very frustrating. It doesn’t help that you can’t move two feet in any direction without aggroing a million forest creatures.

False.

So you didn’t read most of the content.

You seem to have an issue with the format it is being presented in rather than what is actually being written. Some of it was hilarious.

That’s what is considered good today though, if you don’t agree with the new normal in any way you’re guilty of wrongthink, which makes you an evil human. Bastion’s the ideal social media heaven- where nobody is allowed to think the wrong things, and anyone who says something wrong is cancelled or reeducated.
