Is there a reason that there is no classic great sword mog in world of warcraft that wasn’t made in classic or BC? There is all these fantasy swords in every shape and size, but no normal great sword. A nice 2H version of brilliant daybreak blade or a remodeled executioners great sword would be the best thing bliz has done in a while.

Upcoming in 9.0 is a whole batch of HD normal looking weapons you can buy after you finish Exile’s Reach. I think all the variants aren’t on the vendor in testing yet, but hopefully they will be later.

I would completely agree with you, but, if you log onto the PTR and check there sizes they are short compared to every other 2H sword in the game. they look like they were made for dwarfs. Although i agree that those are a great start
Edit: the sword they made have many problem like oversize hilt compared to the blade size and length. blade shape is also done awkwardly.
Edit: along with that there is only 3 options, and there from a STARTING zone. Everyone would be walking around with the same sword.
Edit: if they were to shrink the cross guard slightly and increase the size of the blade slightly that would make there newer models look much better
Presumably because there’s only so much you can do with “long slab of metal and a hilt” that hasn’t already been covered by the stuff they made early in the game’s life.

There not very limited in what they can do when they only have 3 so far that are just recolors. I’m not so much looking for ornate weapons in wow, more basic swords that do not look like a children’s toy. I stated in the post above some of the more obvious faults in this newer model

Well the Katana exists, I believe it still drops from Classic Kazzak
if you are talking about one of the MANY classic and BC katanas, that’s my point, those are old models made 10+ years ago. Newer models for basic weapons like that are seriously needed

Edit:Most of those newer models are great and im looking forward to them, the 2H swords however, were executed poorly.
We are definitely due for more updated traditional mogs. They’ve already done a few, so I imagine they’ll continue drip-feeding them into the game.

There are a couple that I’ve come across and use but I can certainly agree they’re pretty rare compared to oversized particle-ridden slab of metal #5728.
On a slightly related note I’m rather sad there were never any mog-able versions of the weapons from the Pandaren start. Furthermore I wouldn’t hold my breath about the Exile’s Reach models as the very same could be the case with them.
Rather unfortunate overall as I personally find I much prefer the more practically proportioned weapons, as well as those of simpler and/or more down to earth aesthetics. There’s untapped potential in models of this kind as well, but I doubt demand for such will ever be quite big enough to garner a greater variety of models of this kind, much less many for items that actually meet transmog requisites.

Right now is a good time to buy mogs. Everyone is cleaning out banks. Most used to be around 200 and now many go for 50. I bought a ton of mogs recently.
Regular swords are boring. I’d rather get a higher res Maladath.
Regular swords may be boring if you cant put a good mog together with them, but any player with a good taste in mogs can make them work very easily, That being said, i wouldn’t mind high res versions of all old swords simple or not.
