Basic rotation for SP?

At lvl 60 just doing WQ, Covenant stuff and the basic stuff, what’s the simple rotation to kill single targets and packs. No major cooldowns used, jus questing and stuff.

Also, for soloing and no raids or M+, what’s best legendary power?

Shadowflame Prism is the legendary you want with your Unity.

There’s some good basic rotation guides on wowhead for single target and aoe. But tldr for single target, with no CDs at all, you want to apply Vampiric Touch and Shadow Word: Pain and keep them up, Mind Blast whenever it’s available, Devouring Plague when you get enough insanity, mind flay when neither mind blast or DP are available, and use Shadow Word: Death to execute when mob is at low health. If you are running Unholy Nova (necro), Mind Games (venthyr) or Shadow Crash (talent), use those on CD.

This is perfect, thank you for taking the time. So if I do 5 MOB’s, just VT and SWP them all then do singlet target stuff or an AOE after? Like on my Fury warrior I just run and aggro like 10 MOB’s, bring them together and then AOE them down super fast. Something like that possible with SP?

Shadow aoe is… complicated, lol. We’re all hoping it gets fixed in dragonflight.

You absolutely can aoe. You’ll need to take the Searing Nightmare talent. On 3-5 targets misery+psychic link is also an option, but SN is better and more consistent on big packs. You won’t dot as much with SN, just spam it and use your dark thought procs to proc your tier set.

There’s more to it than that but i’ll let wowhead or icyveins explain the advanced math required to minmax shadow aoe depending on target count :stuck_out_tongue:

welp…even SP aoe in open world requires college degree actually xD.

  1. Basically, just keep VT on 4-5 targets. If more than 5 targets - keep VT on high priority targets.
  2. If they stack, cast SN - if they spread, do single rotation on high health mob (Blast +DP).
  3. Cast Blast on procs if you have 4ps.
  4. You also need to pop Fade + shield, or Vamp embrace to sustain big lure.
