How can I make a reasonable amount of gold as a low level player. I have mining but the people on my server are undercutting it a lot. It sells for 1g 20s and it’s being undercut to 70s a stack. I could go and sell it for 70s but the people will undercut it lower so in just gonna use it to get my professions up. Skinning is useless until thick leather with lvl 50 mobs.
Wow, it’s infinitely worse than that on my main server. Still I feel for ya. Only way to handle that if you have the resources is to buy up the cheapest & resell higher, but that’s a slippery slope because they’ll think their “sales” are what people want & keep reposting, so it’s a constant process. If not, then if you have alot of other toons, see what they can sell (ports, summons, etc) and funnel it. (There’s about a million other ways to go about this, but need to know more of your situation & what you’ve tried).
Which ore is going that cheap? If it’s a higher level ore, that is pretty bad then. Noticing people really stopped caring about economy suddenly…
Copper ore. But I looked ar thorium ore the best ore and all the ores below and even the best ore the price is only 3-5f for a stack of 20 on my server.
Until you mine arc crystals, mining is cheap stuff.
Gold and true silver carries some value too.
I almost spat my drink out. LOL I’m lucky if I can find copper above 10s. It’s so bad haha. yeah even 1g 20s isn’t that much, so try to hover around there & note your AH as much as possible, like when the most sellers seem to post sales (weekends/certain days of week, times, etc) & adjust based on that. Try to be patient with it as market should be fluctuating (but hearing alot that people are preventing economic growth…makes total “sense”). Wow…that’s abysmally cheap for higher level ores…I’d be making a whale. (Buy up their cheap sales, but you’ll have to figure out something that is selling by taking a few days to observe the economy if there is one lol on your server). Since ya gotta earn money, to spend money, to make money… >.<
Do tank runs sell? Enchants? Can you run people thru dungeons? (Dungeons are a great way to earn gold quick as well). Seeing what other profs would sell better for right now may be your best bet. That’s a bummer, I feel for ya man.
Sometimes Trade chat is better than relying on AH since uh, the playerbase has changed…
Best way really is to keep your bags empty enough to hold all the vendor trash till you get to another shop. Adds up as you level.
Basilisks can drop trash worth good money for their level and birds are good too.
At low levels? Fishing. Oily Blackmouth. You are welcome.
Get up on that mailbox.
Or figure out how to farm the auction house. There’s about a million guides on how to do it.
you can make money as a low level vendor everything that you find on your way
you will start to gather some real gold around level 40
or you can just fish
low level the only real option is fishing or if you are on a PVP server being herb and selling swiftthistle to rogues.
With the AH, what’s hot today, is dead tomorrow, because many people watch the prices. When something is selling high, people notice and race out to supply the need.
The most reliable way I’ve found is vendor trash. If you spend some time studying loot tables for your level range, you will find not all vendor trash is created equal. Some of it pays you a lot more money, some pays a lot less.
As a general rule of thumb, those useless and annoying mobs that are not for any quest and are simply in your way as you race to your next quest area, often drop the most expensive vendor trash. Kill them all and rejoice that no one else wants them.
No time wasted running to a city, and scrolling through pages in the AH while trying to figure out how much to list your items. Due to the small bags we have at low levels, the ideal mobs will be relatively close to a vendor so you can quickly turn that trash into cash, and get right back to grabbing more.
Quick nickles build up much faster than slow dimes.
This can’t be said enough, there will always be a use for FAP.
Everything said here. PvP servers: pots sell well, still. Trade chat for pots and you can make more than AH: its all about convenience for those who cycle through their pots and gold is not a thing to that level of player. I dont even put prices out there in chat. You would be surprised.
As for skinning, selling at vendor is the gem there, but not as good as fishing.
Ore is kind of crazy because the meta screams engineering…so more people are grinding it themselves, too. Just a hunch.
Don’t forget quest itesm … lets see…random page drops in STV…also that stuff rogues use to make their potions that drop from the bald caster dudes in that twon ok I mtired nite now
Oily blackmouth and deviant delight
Many years ago I wrote a gold guide that is no longer available for people in your position. So take what I’m going to say as helpful criticism and room for improvement.
You fundamentally do not understand the value of items while leveling. If you look it up each profession has a 1 to 300 guide online which will reveal the choke points for leveling them. Even if you only focus on the chokepoints where people need a large quantity of a low level material to progress, you could see a lot of gold coming your way.
Bid low, sell normal. That was the mantra I used to help explain how to make gold when you don’t have a lot of gold. If you learn how to use the resale feature on auctioneer to get items cheaply with bids, you can then sell them for normal or less than normal prices.
Finally, you should understand what mobs to grind while leveling in order to make extra money. Boars outside of Ogrimmar should be focused for an entire level, because the meat sells so well. The turtles In tanaris are a freaking gold mine and one of the best grind spots while leveling.
Just my two copper
you are level 15. the best way to make money is to kill eerything you see and level up.
chinese farmers have good deals. and hey Cleary they are popular I mean who is buying thier gold.
so buy the 70s stacks and repost them for 1g20s.
Level up to the mid 40s and go skin turtles in tanaris. The XP is decent, they skin thick leather and turtle scales, drop valuable vendor trash, and they spawn fast enough to grind non-stop. I was grinding there for leather and turtle scales for some leatherworking quests, I went for about half a level and got 15 gold of vendor trash and greens, along with 100+ turtle scales and about that much thick leather that I didn’t sell, so with those too it would be pretty profitable.
If you’re not playing AH Monopoly it’s hard to make a bunch of money under ~level 40.
Skinning and just vendor is enough its more profit than you think
