Basedsub's connection thread

I’m having the same message, bnet keeps disconnecting and reconnecting, and every time i log into wow it dc’s me and can’t find game server on overwatch.

I have no problem getting to the character screen, but once there i just get a loading screen and then a disconnect. sometimes i click play and it says launching but never launches, and then the play button comes up again.

Howdy!

Moved your thread to your own post as it wasn’t related to the other you posted in. Since both games are impacted the same way it’s a sign something is either blocking the connection or it isn’t stable enough to maintain a connection.

I would recommend to try the following steps:

  1. Power Cycle the home networks’ modem and router to refresh the connection to your Internet Service Provider(ISP) and to all the devices on the network, following the steps Here.

→ Once the network is back online flush your DNS cache using the commands Here.

  1. Make sure your Anti-virus is fully setup to exclude the Blizzard app and all of our games or temporarily disable it following the steps Here.

  2. If you are using a wireless connection, try testing the connection on a wired connection following the steps Here.

If the issue continues please run a WinMTR to host IP: 24.105.62.129 for 10 minutes. Post the results back here for review.

Thank you!

WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider

Is this a wired connection, or wireless? The winMTR itself looks very good aside from this 12 average latency between the modem and the PC. Very abnormal, this node should normally average at 1ms or less. I think our focus should be on the local network.

Instructions:

  1. If this is a wireless connection, try a wired connection temporarily as a test to rule out signal instability
  2. If this is a wired connnection, please power cycle the network by unplugging all network devices for 5+ minutes before plugging them back in.
  3. Login to the router and check for “Quality of Service” settings which may throttle the game’s signal to prioritize other connections.

it’s a wired connection, and i’ve unplugged it for 10 minutes and plugged it back in, the internet itself seems a bit quicker, but the game still doesn’t want to connect. the router is a comcast one, and didn’t have any type of QoS setting that i could find. I reset the modem multiple times and turned off firewall.

edit: sometimes i can connect and log on for small amounts of time, but it eventually desyncs me and my spells just queue up and everyone stops moving. I can still send and receive bnet messages while in game but can’t do anything else.

Basedsub,

The chat servers and game servers are two different connection paths. In a desync like this, it’s not uncommon to still be able to chat/emote.

Are your network drivers and/or windows out of date by chance? Old ones can sometimes mishandle our connection instructions. If this isn’t helpful, it’d be interesting to see a new WinMTR and check how things have changed.

I updated everything that I could think of, drivers etc. a couple days ago. I woke up this morning and deleted anything resembling battle net and all the caches, and reinstalled. So far everything seems to be working. I’ll be sure to update this if something goes wrong, but thank you to all the Blues that helped me with the issue, I appreciate it.

update: it worked for a short while, and then desynched again. this is extremely frustrating, and i have no idea what to do. i’ll post another winMTR in a little bit I guess, and hope to get a solution. This has been going on for 5 days now and is completely demoralizing. I log in and am completely desynched, have 0 world latency.

edit: sorry for so many updates/edits…a couple of different times i’ve been able to log on and play, and everything is fine for a couple hours, but then i just disconnected, and battle net is on and off disconnecting, and the game doesn’t want to launch, and when i do get to the character screen, i get 3/4 of the way through the loading screen and then i get disconnected.

Hey again Basedsub,

I totally get that this is making it difficult to play, especially if you’re trying to get into organized group content. In addition to the winMTR requested earlier, what error message do you get on the Battle.net application when you try to reconnect and can’t go online? (Assuming I understood your description correctly). It should have a code like: BLZBNTAGT########
