Did they remove the journals from Ponzo. When i was looking at the notes i bought a few weeks ago i noticed the Journals were missing i figured that if i bought the notes the journals would appear back but that hasnt been the case.

I think they have. I no longer see the barter brick ones and only see barter boulders versions.
To finish this I figured it out with Eternosus comment.
Journals are one time purchase.
Reaching Renown 15 with Loamm changes the currency to buy from Ponzo.
Instead of Bricks, everything will change, and cost boulders instead.
