Since the last game update Bartender has stopped working correctly. Frequently certain bars are removed and I have to do a /reload to get them back, so I need a replacement.
I don’t need something like Elvui, just something simple that allows me to move my action bars where I need them to be, or even the icons.
Any suggestions?
Dominos? That said I haven’t had any issues with Bartender.
I use dominoes, another bar replacement, and had no issues with 8.1.5 and specifically with it.
8.1.5 reset a bunch of Interface options back to default. Some keybindings got reset. Tutorials got turned back on. The option to cast while mounted and flying got reset. Blizz action bar settings for which bars were visible also got reset (which my dominoes settings did honor and this caused some annoyance). Once I changed stuff back it’s now my kind of normal and working.
I know this happened to some of my friends as well. Before giving up on bartender, go through and review your non-addon Wow Interface settings and see if anything got unexpectedly changed.
ElvUI and ElvUI_ExtraActionBars and then shut off ALL modules except the action bars (it’s very, very modular).
Dominos’ code is a snarled mess of nonsense (it works, but it’s fragile).
I have had problems with Bartender, enough that I stopped using it for much the same reason you are wanting to (and no, I can’t replicate them - odd relocation of bars for no reason I could figure out, bars disappearing and reappearing at unpredictable times - I gave up trying to sort out why and just replaced it with ElvUI after trying Dominos first).
The advantage here is that if you decide to mess with your unit frames, you don’t need a new addon for it. Same for the minimap, for the bags, for the nameplates, for your buffs/debuffs, for quite a few elements of the UI. You can turn on and turn off anything you want and move quite a few things that aren’t movable in the vanilla UI without MoveAnything.
I wouldn’t say “no” to ElvUI (plus ElvUI Extra Action Bars) without at least giving it a shot.
