Barrage or Trail for Reaping

My gut says barrage since its heavy aoe damage for those massive packs. Just wanted to make sure im correct in my assumption.

Barrage has a higher damage ceiling for reaping packs with good execution whereas trail is easier to get the damage out and more consistent and predictable.

Yeah, I use trail for m+. It’s easy. Since this week has explosives the more focus you can take off your abilities the better I think. Easier rotation, so you can watch and hit them when they pop up.

Explosive is a B

I use Fel Barrage for Reaping M+. Nothing better than seeing 200k+ DPS and everything dying so quick.

You lose some Boss DPS but you make that up in time by making sure the trash is dead super quick.

Fel Barrage is much stronger in M+ in general, compared to in raids. In a raid boss fight, you’ve just got like 5-8 minutes of mostly continuous damage, so the fact that Trail does more damage per minute sustained wins. However, in M+, you have downtime between packs, downtime where Trail is doing no damage but Fel Barrage is continuing to eat through its cooldown. Net is that Fel Barrage’s damage contribution per time spent in combat is much higher in M+ than in raid. And Reaping just shifts that balance even further, Eye Beam + Barrage is insane for Reaping packs.

Also, one thing to note is that Fel Barrage scales with Furious Gaze far more strongly than Trail does. With Trail, you’re decreasing BD interval and thus increasing Trail damage, but only for those 12 seconds. Fel Barrage only deals its damage once per minute, so you can put all of it inside a Demonic + Furious Gaze haste window. Net effect is that, if you get say 1800 haste from Furious Gaze (roughly what you get from 2x Furious Gaze at 400 ilevel), which is roughly 26.5% haste (and let’s say you have 15% haste from rating from gear), that’s giving you an average benefit of +9.2% damage per minute to Trail, but +23% damage per minute to Fel Barrage.

Fel Barrage if you are stacking Furious Gaze

Trail of Ruin if you are stacking Revolving Blades

Personal preference is Furious Gaze, but it’s all based on play style, don’t let sites like Bloodmallet dictate how you play.

No, from a mathematical perspective, there are right answers and wrong answers for builds and trait combinations. It depends on what you’re optimizing for, which is where some of the debate comes in. But that’s not the same as simply discarding the output of sims.

As for traits, Furious Gaze is the recommended one right now. It, along with Thirsting Blades, are the top-simming single-target class specific traits, and Furious Gaze is also one of the strongest AoE traits, especially with Fel Barrage (as I noted earlier). I actually added up one off a guildy of mine, and with his high-M+ Galecaller and with a theoretical 3x 415 Furious Gaze traits (he only has 2, both 400), plus lust, his Fel Barrage would be doing just a smidge shy of triple damage.

And with that much haste, you could almost fit in a third blade dance in the eye beam meta, lol.
