Banned unfairly, Blizzard CS says they've reverted the ban, but I'm still banned

A few days ago, I was banned for no reason. I made a Reddit post on the WoW subreddit that garnered a lot of traction (link to that would go here, but I can’t post a link) and the community has generally expressed that we don’t know why I’ve been banned.

Blizzard responded 36 hours after my ban letting me know that they have reopened my account after a successful appeal. I also made a Reddit post updating the community on Blizzard’s positive CS response (link to that would go here, but I can’t post a link).

In that post, I also provide all the evidence necessary in an Imgur album link (again, can’t provide a link; check the WoW subreddit, all of my posts are there) to demonstrate that I really did nothing wrong and that my (automated) ban was completely unwarranted, and only followed what is probably a burst of people auto-reporting me after seeing my post in the LFG.

Blizzard says I am banned. Then they say they have unbanned me. But I still have not been able to sign in. Three days later (out of a 10 day ban), responses to THREE DIFFERENT SUPPORT TICKETS letting me know that I am unbanned (again, I just posted on Reddit if you want to check that out for the Imgur album), and I am still sitting here suspended from WoW.

At this point, the thought is really crossing my mind that I am being gaslit right now by Blizzard customer service. EVEN IF there is a technical issue with my computer, or some kind of a “cache-clearing” issue, as one of the GMs argued, I have no way of knowing how to solve any of this unless a GM tells me. What is going on ???

Move this to the customer support forum. No one here can help you

Please move this over to the Customer Service forum as they will be able to look further into this.

Someone swept up in the mythic key ban wave maybe?

You need to move your post to the Customer Support forum. That forum serves as an Information Desk to help folks navigate the ticket process, explain policies, and explain account services.

To do that use the edit pencil at the bottom of your first post. From the drop down menu there change the forum from General Discussion to Customer Support.

When a Blue is on duty they can check the status of your account hopefully.

EDIT - I see you (probably?) used a different posting character to post the same thread in CS. Likely this one will be deleted then when the Mods get to it for being a duplicate.

I just posted the same thing over on the Customer Support forum. Not sure how to move a post. How do I delete this one?

Correct. I’m not even sure if I am replying correctly to your comment LOL

You can’t delete it yourself, although you can edit the first post to remove the info in it and change the title to “Deleted by poster” if you want.

I included the instructions for how to move or edit a post in my reply.

I see you already have a Blue reply on CS. Just continue with the thread there.

Hope you get a resolution. One thing I will suggest is that if the appeal doesn’t clear before the 10 days are up DO NOT drop it. A lot of systems give escalating penalties for repeat offenders and if something like this happens again you don’t want some random CS person down the line to look at your account as a repeat offender.

Good luck!

Someone told me that EVEN IF it gets cleared after the appeal, it still shows up as my account as a “point” (to liken it to points on a driver’s license, I guess, since that’s the closest comparison I can come up with right now). Next time I get slammed with reports in a similar fashion, I can just be banned with a more severe penalty even if this appeal gets me unbanned lol

I wouldn’t be shocked if that is the case, sadly.

No, if the account action is overturned then it’s removed from your account entirely. You aren’t penalized for account actions that were deemed to have been in error.

As a follow up - the OP did have the issue cleared up as a result of their thread in CS. They now have access to their account again.

The “points” on your account are those that are confirmed and upheld. That gets removed if your appeal is successful. They may have a record of it happening, but it does not count against you. In this case, the violation against your account was removed when your appeal was successful.

The forums aren’t where you’ll get help, and I’m not interested in your Reddit post or imgurs. I don’t work for Blizzard. I’m just trying to live my life here.

People who say they were ban for no reason obviously don’t check their email.
