Banned After Trading Between My Personal Accounts Via Neutral Auction House

That’s probably the reason why then because it’s two different accounts and not two different license. Especially if both accounts don’t have the same address information.

It’s not account based it’s License based.

So if on my single BNet I have WoW 1 license and a WoW 2 license I can have my WoW 1 license have Alliance characters on PvP server X and WoW 2 can have Horde characters on the same PvP server from my understanding.

Hopefully a SFA Blue can provide more clarification in the morning, but if I were to bet the issue is because you are using two different accounts instead of two different licenses.

Cleaning up old posts!

I see. I had no idea you could have a second license with a second account.

I guess I understand the point, but then I don’t get why support wouldn’t just confirm that I own both accounts before moving forward if the ownership is the issue. I gave them both account names, screenshots of both ban messages, emails, character names, everything I could think of. They never responded to me asking if they needed more info to prove that I own both accounts. Hell, I pay them with the same card and play them from the same computer lol.

Do you have the same name and address on both accounts? Not using your real name, or sharing accounts with someone else, is a violation all by itself, but more importantly here, would definitely make it look like a transfer between two different people, which would raise way more red flags. I’m not positive myself if this breaks the new rules, just saying if it’s not obvious both accounts belong to the same person, it’s going to look more sus.

You can have up to 8 licenses on a single account. For retail (and Cata/MoP Classic to my knowledge) you share your mount/achievements/cosmetics etc across all of the licenses on the account. You still have to pay for the other licenses subscription/expansion stuff.

I also highly recommend to make sure both accounts have the same information, your real name, address, etc. As if there is a mismatch there is an even larger red flag.

Also you may want to consider when this is all said and done making a new license on your primary account assuming you aren’t attached to the character(s) and stuff on the 2nd account.

I honestly don’t think they looked at it that deeply, because they never responded to my provided account info. Address should be the same, account name is the same (technically the first name of one is my middle name, but both last names are the same). Same payment method, same IP used to access them. Same… everything else pretty much?

I can’t believe that a GM would consider it not the same person because of the first name adjustment when they can clearly see the last name, phone number, address, IP address, payment method, all other details being the same. The IP address/payment method seems to be more irrefutable proof than anything else.

Could still look like two different people. For example siblings or partners.

Hopefully this can be looked into further and a SFA Blue will be able to offer some insight tomorrow. So you probably won’t hear anything for about another 9 hours at the earliest. I recommend heading to bed.

For sure. Hopefully someone can get a set of eyes on it to see that I own both or can have the opportunity to provide more proof if needed. Genuinely didn’t know about the name thing, and had no idea you could have multiple accounts (licenses) on the same account.

Thanks so much for your input on this post man! Your perspective has been grounded, fair, and definitely helpful (others here as well!)

I think you’re misunderstanding the link, as stated by this post:

You can not place things within the Auction House and rebuy it yourself on a single Battle.net account. Even the neutral Auction House is designed this way. So, when you do it via a separate Battle.net account to get yourself gold transferred to the opposite faction, you’re bypassing the restriction. In other words, exploiting an in-game system.

So, selling something in a neutral Auction House, rebuying the items on another Battle.net account, to give yourself the gold from those items, is an unsupported transaction, which yes, as listed within the Support Article, is an actionable offense.

The Auction House was not designed as a way for you to try and bypass the restrictions to get gold cross-faction when you want to switch it from Alliance to Horde or visa-versa. It is supported with in-game systems in Modern WoW or retail WoW as some would call it, such as trading or Warbanks, but in Classic WoW, it is not supported.

We definitely do need more clarity on it and if Blizzard has decided to fully make trading amongst your OWN accounts via the Neutral AH an actionable offense.

This is the last thing I have seen about this particular situation. Vrak answered questions about it the day the policy was updated.

I think the part is a grey area still on it.

As quoted from Vrakthris:

In one of my support messages, a GM responded to me with this: '’ I see you are trying to learn the legality of using the Neutral Auction House to move goods between your two characters from different factions.

After investigating the issue and consulting with my supervisor for clarification, I found that as long as your are using the in-game systems, you should be in the clear when doing this.

I hope this helps you solve your inquiry, if you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate on contacting us, we are more than happy to help you clear up any other doubts you may have.’’

Seems pretty clear to me that transferring between your own characters (and therefore different accounts since you can only have characters on both factions using two accounts) is okay, but maybe I’m just missing something obvious. What do you think?

edit: that Blizzard CS rep you linked also said this right above what you quoted: ‘If you are using multiple Battlenet accounts that you are registered to, could it be mistaken for illicit activity? Yes, that’s possible, but it’s usually pretty obvious. As I said, we do try to make note when it is activity by the same person.’ I get the impression that they’re actively trying to avoid banning when the activity is by the same person. I always play both accounts on the same computer at the same time, so that would track.

Maybe double check the account details of both accounts to make sure all the information does match. You already mentioned the first name is different, but maybe there’s more info that’s also different between them that you maybe forgot?
I am just thinking at least then you’d double check that the rest of the info does indeed match.

I think you got caught up in the new scorched earth policy.

People were trading gold between classic and retail for about… a year? Using the loop hole that while this activity wasn’t prohibited, it wasn’t supported either (so if you got scammed if it “too bad, so sad” from Blizzard.)

However, the shady people that “play” this game seen that this was a good way to launder their dirty gold. Then we had legit people trading with shady people and there was no way to tell who was RMT and who was doing a legit but unsupported transaction.

So Blizzard started banning and suspending people, whether they were guilty of RMT or not. I get why they did it. They had to scare people enough to make them stop. What I don’t get is they started doing this before they updated their policy which, imo, was really crappy of Blizzard to do. I’m sure a lot of the legit people would have immediately stopped if they were given fair warning. No idea why they did things in the order they did.

I have a feeling that you’re that guy now… if you’re telling us the truth. Nothing against you, I just don’t believe everything I read on the internet so I think you’re probably just an innocent guy caught up in a new policy change that’s coming down the pipe but I have no way of knowing for sure. Sorry.

Anyways, I have a feeling that more and more people are probably going to get banned and suspended for messing around with the neutral AH. I also have a feeling that once again Blizzard will punish people before they update their policy that says classic realms can’t use the neutral AH to trade with yourself.

And like I said above, I understand why Blizzard is doing it. What they have done in the past wasn’t working. Even though we have a token, people are still buying gold from third parties. Other people that don’t buy gold are screaming at Blizzard to fix the bots. It looks like someone at Blizzard finally threw in the towel and said “fine, we’re going to play hardball now”.

If you are telling the truth then I genuinely feel bad for you. I have seen with my own eyes someone that was punished for doing nothing wrong. That person was so offended that he quit, for good. I have my own situation I’m keeping an eye on. Someone sent me 1000g and me being a dummy just assumed someone was being nice but if I get punished for it, I also will be done with this game for good. I refuse to accept punishment for something I didn’t do.

I advise you to do the same if you’re truly innocent. Blizzard shouldn’t be rewarded for punishing the innocent.

This isn’t Reddit.

If the person makes and appeal, and the appeal is sucessful, Blizzard does apologize to the person, and the person is entitled to request for the game time lost during the course of the suspension.

Everyone who works at Blizzard are humans after all, and yes, it is only human to make mistakes. But this does not mean there is a mistake either. All of us players, we don’t have access to the logs either. We don’t know the real reason behind the suspension either. Which is usually best why we don’t really speculate.

With that also being said, Blizzard has always taken a strong stance against anyone caught with illicit gold, whether the player knew they had it or not. The point of it is to stop the illicit gold circulating even further around.

After reading the Blizz article about trading between toons I had the same question about the neutral action houses.

If that truly is a banable offence then why to the neutral auction houses existing.

Ok, Myyman, let me try to break this down as best I can. While I can certainly see why you added 2 plus 2 and got 4, this wasn’t nearly that cut and dried - nor are the causes what you think.

  1. Your alt account is now unbanned. That ban wasn’t because of your appeals though I can certainly see how you think it might have been.

  2. Your main suspension has ended. Although I can see why you thought it was connected to your alt being banned (I did too at first), it wasn’t.

  3. This isn’t just because you used the neutral AH.

The stars didn’t line up in your favor here, it was one thing after another. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, 99% of the time it IS a duck - unless it’s a swan.
