Heirlooms need to be banned for everybody because it ruins my own leveling experience. If there’s no RDF then heirlooms need to be banned as well to preserve the spirit of classic. I will be gear checking low level dungeon groups to make sure nobody is wearing them so all of us can experience the thrill of getting an upgrade.

I don’t even think the intent of not implementing RFD was to preserve the spirit of classic. They just wanted the socializing aspect to thrive more in the community instead of doing it through a one-stop shop (which ironically helps the game more than harms it). Heirlooms were put in the game to expedite the leveling process for those that wish to get their alts ready during the expansion and don’t want to endure through the long 1-60 grind.
That’s not fair to new players though. They can’t catch up if other people are getting more experience
That hasn’t been fair to new players back in 2008 and since… The concept of being a “new” player is to go through the entire leveling process from scratch to explore, discover, and learn the game. No one that steps in the game for the first time will automatically have access to resources/gear that is solely meant to help experienced players get through the process faster.

Who needs heirlooms when we have bought boosts? Like I’d waste tokens/badges/honor on heirloom gear. My warlock is already 70 and they don’t even exist yet!

Heirlooms actually do take away the fun of gear upgrades when levelling. It would be better of they just granted everyone a flat xp bonus despite the gear you wear.

Heirlooms actually add to my fun leveling alts. It is fair to new players, because everyone has to level at least 1 character to max without them outside of paid boosters who get to poof a level 70.
Ban everything that speeds up leveling!!! People have to play how I want and have to suffer uhm enjoy the slow process of tedious leveling!!!

There’s going to be another EXP nerf with WoTLK anyways.
Most people don’t see leveling as content anymore though, even in Classic where it was clearly consumed as content back in the day because some people weren’t always capable of raiding or wanted to PvP.
The only real thing I wish they’d do is what they did in SOM; kill boosting.

I agree. The spirit of classic is gone when leveling if you never have to worry about gear. It’s the main reason to play this game.

No it is more of a loop, you need to get honor/stone shard/badges to get hierlooms. So if you have 1main, 1gather alt, 1level 70 twink, 7 transmute alts(lvl 68). Hierlooms shouldn’t impact you while leveling the first character.
Why is it that people that never reach endgame want the game to change the most for them?
Isn’t there like only 4 or 5 heirlooms in Wrath?
People are still going to be getting upgrades while leveling.
Same, heirlooms to me makes leveling in vanilla and tbc content atleast tolerable
True, I think the slots covered in WotLK are chest, weapons, amulets and rings.
Chest and Shoulders (XP BONUS) + Weapons. Some limited trinkets and one ring from fishing (XP BONUS)
