Ban flying

Given that blizzard sees only positives in banning flying from forever, why don’t they put their money where their mouth is and ban it from retail also? After all, we will all be more engaged and sociable won’t we… I think we all know the answer to that one.

The answer is “Nah.”

Because people, Im assuming like yourself, would completely lose their mind over it.

Flying, no flying is such a nothing issue, I don’t understand why there are this many posts about it.

If flying is such a contentious issue for you, don’t play classic or forever.

Yeah, I’m inclined to agree.

Flying is pretty much just a way to get from point a to point b.

If there’s no reason to go to point b (ala wod), then why do people care?

Because they lost The Great Flying War that waged from WoD to Dragon Flight. As a conquered people they have no choice but to keep flying in.

They often do in current content.

Wow players pretty adamant about skipping as much of the game as possible, unfortunately.

Their core design pillars designs are different in both game modes, the point is not to make 2 different game versions for the same crowd. Forever has a much purist mindset that they demonized grinding dungeons to level up. While I think having some flying restricted zones is fine totally banning flying at all is removing a vertical aspect of the game which can be much more interesting in some situations and world design. It is also simply more respecting player time to have a decent way to travel around without wasting 15 mins from point A to point B.

feeding and brushing each one of your mounts should be a sub system like housing that is required to unlock and keep flying, that’ll make us miserable if nothing else is working.

What if you fly a mech? Do you still need to brush and feed it?

Because my sweet summer child, Retail evolved to include flying on the old world with Cata, just how it happened.

And you can believe Forever is something new and different all you want, but it’s just Classic, that never had flying, with a bit of polish.

Which only reaffirms Myth Busters results that you can in fact, polish a turd.:poop:

You know man, ive been playing since Vanilla. Flying had more to do with ppl simply wanting to avoid unneccesary killing of low level mobs in zones needed by low level players for quests and then having to wait on respawns for almost an entire zone, it sucked when flying didnt exist.

Nope not going to happen

No you need to swap fluids, change lines, and tighten bolts, you will periodically take burn damage as well and feel the need to yell ‘hold the light steady’ every once in a while.

They put their money there back in WoD and then that money started flying out the window.

From what I’ve heard, “Forever” begins at end of Warcraft III, beginning of Vanilla WoW. At that point WoW Retail didn’t have flying either. It didn’t come along until TBC.

Pfft. They literally attempted to remove flying from retail in WoD and there was such a fit that they begrudgingly brought it back, but with a bunch of hoops to jump through.

If they could have ridden out the waves from that, I would bet that we wouldn’t have flying or dragon riding or any of it today in retail either.

So no not really a “two different designs” thing. More of a “we regret flying and we aren’t going to make that mistake again”, at least for the time being.

Ion was still going on about players using flying to skip mobs just within the last few months when they really want players to have to fight their way through a whole camp to get to their destination.
