For all that’s its worth, auto invite weakauras are against TOS since they are automated utilizing addons and such to instantly invite people for Enchanting/Mage ports/boosting. clearly this isn’t normal gameplay and is used for an advantage over other players and is known by most people to be cheating since there is NO hardware press, as is required for your character’s actions such as macros, advertisements and such.
Blizzard, this is clearly Objectively cheating and there needs to be enforcement. On top of that the sheer Ubiquitiousness of these addons makes it impossible for others to sell enchants.
Lack of enforcement from Blizzard so far doesn’t mean the TOS no longer matters. The
obnoxiousness of automated invite addons stealing customers actively serves to limit/make the enchanting profession less casual friendly.
I agree and support this. As a 375 enchanter I have made me 100g in tips throughout all of TBC since people get auto invited and I have no shot at actually using my profession to make gold. Good stuff
PS - the auto inviter is only one of the pieces of code that I have written … I also wrote https://wago.io/17ZQgjA3y to aid in my enchanting endeavors and share it openly to assist all enchanters.
Okay. I find it hard to believe you haven’t received more than 100g since the start of TBC.
First of all, plenty of people spam their advertisement regardless of auto inviting or not and people still go to them. Not everyone endorses auto inviters such as myself.
Second, a lot of people opted to pick up enchanting in TBC because of the ring benefits. It’s on them to choose if they want to use it for business, too.
I’ve used automation for over two years in Classic, when there weren’t many enchanters to begin with. Now people want to complain they can’t get business? Nah.
Addons can send chat messages without any manual action. That’s why your boss mod can say “fire on me” to everyone around you. That’s why Weak Auras can do the same thing. You can engage Solarian, walk away from your computer, and your boss mod will /say that you have the Wrath of the Astromancer debuff whenever you get it.
Blizzard programmed their API to work that way. It’s how the game is literally designed. Banning people for sending automated chat messages would be like banning people who create Rogues on the character select screen. Blizzard literally programmed the ability to create Rogues into the game. That’s not illegal. And neither is sending automated chat messages. Because Blizzard consciously gave us an avenue by which to do it.
Easy solution and novel idea. Download the add-on. It’s on Curse right now. Not Swift’s fault if you play on a potato PC that can’t handle another one.
Ach-tually i support the banning of anyone who uses this, because I have personally been victimized by these addons because I sniffles and shoves up glasses as a rogue have had sapped targets automatically by AUTOMATION say “sapped” without any KEYBOARD PRESSES and then the unaware allies of the sapped target see him say sapped and sniffles again turn around to protect him and it stops me from getting an easy kill.
/sarcasm btw
These grown men crying about how their APM is too low to keep up with a legal addon/weak aura, and are too stubborn to move on and grow with the game are just fools. Get faster, get the addon, or sucks to suck I guess.
