I dont understand why people hate GDKP?

people have ALWAYS bought gold, ALWAYS.

GDKPs are just another way to use the gold you have. even if blizzard had a stellar support crew who curbed 99% of bots / gold transactions, GDKPs would still exist. sooo idk why you hate the GDKP, and not the inaction of blizzard lol.

They hate RMT which damages the community’s ability to use the AH without participating in that buying of gold. GDKP is a method of laundering that gold so that others who don’t want to buy gold can feel good about having gold without buying it.

GDKP is also a good way to organize a good raid, probably the best motivator to make sure people dont go afk / not consume.

go afk all the time? no cut
just auto attack half the time? no cut
not bringing even the basic consumes? no cut
wipe the raid a couple times? no cut

You mean like every other organized raid group? The only thing GDKP has an advantage over is random PuGs for organization.

GDKP is not a better method from the methods we have. It’s just a better method than random PuGs.

guilds are not the only way someone should have to participate. plenty of people who know how to play just like to float in and out of GDKPs on their own time. its a great option for people who need flexible raid times.

a) According to Blizzard that’s unacceptable, which is why LFD was removed.
b) And the problem with GDKP is that it’s providing a market for the RMT.

You asked why people hate it, that’s why. GDKP existed before Classic and most people didn’t care because the gold values weren’t high in other places. When your cut is 30g, you’re not going to prioritize it over joining a guild. But there are plenty of people who would otherwise join a guild, who feel ‘compelled’ to do GDKPs, because otherwise they can’t afford the exorbitant prices of things like herbs on the AH, that the same RMT outfits control to drive prices up, so that people are driven to their RMT sites.

It’s basically racketeering, and GDKP is the gold laundering part of the operation.

• 1st offense is an account wipe. Keep your level, but all gold, gear, items, mounts, and bank slots are deleted, on every character
• 2nd offense. Actually reset all their reputation, professions, and levels. But do not reset their quests (so if they want to relevel up, they must now basically grind level)
• 3rd offense, outright ban.

They would lose so much money from people just quitting if they did this, which is my theory as to why they barely do anything now.

RMT is in every market of the game. Auction house (consumes, rare recipes, boe gear), GDKPs, Gold sinks (Gigantique Bags, Artisan Riding). The true way to defeat RMT is to remove currency altogether and seize the means of production comrades.

Maybe getting rid of GDKP isn’t the best solution but currently nothing is being done to prevent its negative impact across the game. I will continue to call for its removal until something is done to stop its impact.

Tell Blizzard to address the actual issue. GDKP isn’t the issue.

If a GM is reading this I have a list of the top GDKPs on my server, they are 100% engaging in RMT daily and most of their buyers are also RMT buyers and you I will freely share this information including names if it means we can make an example out of these bad actors in our community.

No GM is reading this. You’re acting like you have a strong point and that people care.

They don’t. You’re a (unfortunately) very vocal minority.

FYI there are many people in TBC that are gold capped who have never bought gold or engaged in any kind of RMT. It’s EASY.

TBC prints money if you actually play the game and know what you’re doing.

Get over it. It is what it is. Learn how to thrive in the system without doing any RMT (you 110% can), instead of complaining about how much your life sucks.

It’ll be about an insane gnome who wants to launder insane amounts of gold and has nowhere to do it, and we say HEY we can do it! We have this place in middle of nowhere called Deadwind Pass and we can use this CRAZY thing called GDKPs but they’re suuuuuper illegal and all the gold has to be washed several times.
