I spend silver on these charms to use mage scrolls, I have to first hope they drop (AH prices are EXPLODING - go figure) off mobs in the wild, then you must hope that a rune requirement is randomly generated for you as you are identifying said scrolls… This level of RNG reminds of that time in Legion you know with Legendaries and how POORLY that was implemented.
History lesson, again. RNG on end game spells/power gains are BAD GAME DESIGN!
For what it’s worth, I just got my balefire bolt off the first fel sliver, fully prepared to rage that I was going to have to pay the AH price of 10g per scroll to do half a dozen portals to get it to drop. Idk if the rng is that bad.
The portals rewards (at least for warlocks) have an ilvl to the bag.
Fel Sliver = ilvl 15
Fel Crack = ilvl 25
Fel Tear = ilvl 35
Fel Scar = ilvl 45
Fel Rift = ilvl 55
It seems you have a much higher chance for the rune the higher the ilvl is. (also it seems you need to be the same level or higher than the ilvl to interact with the portal too for warlocks).
SL actually was alright in pve. Every bit of survivability is great, and if the healer kept your pet up it was even better. It was good enough to hurt losing it.
While I agree it felt… awful… spending all that mana and baby sitting its debuff on bosses and worrying about them moving… it was still a ton of damage that we are not getting back. Backdraft is good but we were getting that either way. Which probably was partly why they nerfed LoF since backdraft was going to probably make us way too strong… but now LoF is unusable, and backdraft introduces more mana issues. Plus… pretty sure frost mage is going to be dealing more damage.
Mana issues…on a warlock…the class that literally has a “give me mana back” button with no cd?
I dunno man, pressing Life Tap one or two times extra for literally 100% uptime on 30% increased spell haste seems like a pretty good deal.
Ain’t no way warlocks aren’t going to be rocking, and the only reason they wouldn’t be rocking is if other classes are busted OP, but that doesn’t take away from how good warlocks are going to be.
But hey, if you’re not happy, we can trade balance druid’s “Hurricane is now on par with Rain of Fire” or “yay 9s extended Sunfire…” if you want.
Mana issues were a problem with LoF too. The issue is now it’s even greater, and 30% more haste is not going to come close to competing with +50% damage. I acknowledge that some classes are in a worse spot. While obviously as a warlock I take great pleasure in hearing of your suffering, it’s still poor consolation.
I still just don’t understand how the only class with a button that literally gives them mana back with no restriction can have mana issues.
Just press your button more often.
It’s impossible to run out of mana as a Warlock in a group.
All you’re saying is “I don’t want to have to spend a GCD where I don’t do damage”, that is not a class issue.
I mean… if your healer gets tired of you spending all your health on your mana it is entirely possible to run out of mana as a warlock. Or even if they heal you religiously, that just makes you a liability on your healer’s mana pool which hurts the party/raid. You’re also kinda touching on the issue. It isn’t just about the mana itself. Having to spend time on that GCD more often has an impact on your damage output. That is a class issue.
That being said, having spent some time with it, it’s more bearable than I initially thought.
