Baldur's Gate 3

It is the hip new RPG everyone is talking about.

Have you played it? Are you a Drizztian Drow, or perhaps one of those tiny nose people? The character customization looks really good to me so please post a screenshot of your character if possible.

I have not gotten it yet. It looks good but I generally don’t like isometric CRPG gameplay… but maybe one of you can tell me your review and inform my video game purchasing

My computer is 8 years old and never been updated.
Reasonably confident my computer cannot run it. So I will wait until I upgrade and it goes on sale.

BG3 is amazing. It’s not like other isometrics where combat happens every other second and turns are simultaneous, which makes the turn based and tactical aspect of it a bit more impactful. DC checks are realistic, inspiration points are awarded fairly regularly, and the classes are all cool. I’ve heard it said that your choices matter - I’ve seen some evidence of that, but without the context of other’s experiences its hard to say. Combat on the “balanced” difficulty is challenging. Dialogue is good and it seems like everything is voice acted. Side characters are all cool and have their own views on your adventure and their own side issues, which makes for interesting interactions basically wherever you are in the world.

I’d recommend this game at full price. There is heart and soul in it, and it shows.

I would absolutely love to play it but top-down games cause problems for my brain, literally.

There are a lot of vidya games that do. It’s probably one of the reasons I am still so into WoW. For someone with a TBI, it’s easily accessible and do-able.

It looks amazing though.

I own it. I downloaded it. I took time off from work this weekend to play it. I haven’t touched it. I sometimes end up with an internal “NOOOOO” on things that get super popular and Idk why. Dr. Who, Walking Dead, etc. If everyone’s talking about it, I’m probably going to stay away for awhile.

I’ll play it eventually. Probably.

just started it, mildly upset there are no cute orcs, and everyone I know is like “Gale is the single most annoying character” while stanning objectively worse characters like Shadowheart.

as I am playing a drow, I am going to kill Lae’zel. no one’s allowed to be a bigger supremacist than me. I’ll probably do a run to get to know her better later, but the Lolth loyal drow run isn’t gonna do well with anyone saying their surface-dwelling nonsense is worth respecting.

Overall, first impression tier lists:

Yeah, I’d figure out more about this person tier: Gale, Wyll
I would rather play you tier: Lae’zel
You’re all right tier: Asterion
Sold for gas money tier: Shadowheart

It really is quite good. It is super fun to toss and push people off cliffs or have fun with exploding barrels. The level of stuff you can do in this game is pretty crazy. This is my Half-Orc-adin.

I want him to be an Oath-Breaker so I can experience what happens but I haven’t done anything too bad yet. The “Dark Urge” playthrough looks pretty demented so I will save that for a later evil playthrough.

I wasn’t going to do a dark urge playthrough as my first, but playing the file enough outside of multiplayer with my partner got me hooked.

Gale didn’t want to adventure with me after I picked a certain option, but I’ve loved every companion’s stories so far. Lae’zel is definitely my favorite though.

I like her but there is another follower that is just the absolute best. I am usually switching between her and Lae’zel.

I guess my only major gripe is that I wish I could bring 5 companions with me instead of just 4.

Does the name start with a K?

Also you can with the power of mods! At least I’m sure they already had that out.

Yep that’s the one!

Yeah my partner absolutely adores her. In my main game, K companion is an enraged throw machine. Everything too far for close combat? That’s fine, she’ll just chuck a hammer three times for like 60+ damage.

K is a beast. I like how most of the companions have a flexible sense of morality, even the blade of frontiers to an extent.

I’m getting it this weekend. Going for a Sorceror/Warlock Multiclass build because I want to RP as a mini-deity and near one-shot everything.

This game has consumed my life for the last for few days. I’ve made about a handful of characters, plus started a Karlach file, but the first was a Half-Orc Monk. I find myself mildly annoyed by the dice rolls sometimes, mainly their frequency and prevalence, but overall, it has been a rather engrossing experience, even when I’m playing through the intro enough times that I’ll soon be able to recite lines from pure memory like Skyrim.

Honestly kind of surprising for what was essentially an impulse buy.

Gonna have to upgrade my potato 2000
but I’m a little obsessed with this game.

Gaem good. Have an online character and a single player character. Dont mix them.

Gunna get it eventually, heard nothing but good things from my friends on the internet. Any game that makes the AAA’s mad because it’s too good is worth looking into.

upgraded my graphics card because the game crashed my previous card (one that did admittedly run D4 and Elden Ring) and haven’t had any issues since.

It’s definitely worth an upgrade if the game’s making your PC run like butt or crash.
