yeah i know my parses are garbage too and every elitest will tell me it’s a ME problem and blah blah
but someone tell me this:
how come balance is one of the absolute highest simming classes, and yet according to this:

or just look at mythic ashvane rankings
we are the 19th worst dps spec for mythic ashvane. even feral druids are now above us overall. not only that but me even in blue parses, I’m currently number 3rd balance druid overall parses for my entire shard.
how come a player as bad as me can be 3rd druid on his entire shard with blue parses yet everyone else raiding at my level parses much higher and easily gets purple or better parses? boomies are so flawed in every way possible from other classes it’s insane
someone tell me why I keep getting nurfed into the ground? we get a 10% nurf to dots like a shadowpriest which is a spec that has been melting meters tier and tier again, and yet us boomies get nurfed into the ground more and more every patch
In uldir, I used to crit harder with starsurge than I do now. with over a few thousand less intellect/spellpower I STILL CRIT LESS NOW WITH STARSURGE THAN I DID
Basically Iv’e surmised that blizzard loathes boomies and that I should use my 120 boost to re roll another class and never look back despite liking the playstyle of my class theres just too much I can’t overcome of everyone else being inherently better at a baseline advantage than me. yeah sure we can sim high or pump damage if we never have to move but the fact a blue parsing person like me being 3rd overall in his spec for parses on his shard, or somewhere close to it is an actual disgrace.
You said it yourself: simming is not always a reflection of actual raid performance. We don’t move during sims but have to during raid, so obviously we won’t do less damage. Concerning your raid logs, I’m assuming you’re talking about your Mythic logs? Obviously you’re not bad since you’re doing upper 80’s and 90’s in your heroic and normals according to ilvl.
Balance nerfs aren’t going to end the world, it’s a 10% nerf to two dots. The moment there’s any sort of council/duo/long living mobs you’re going to skyrocket on the dps meter.

Oh no, you are a bit below average on one fight. Also don’t talk about feral that way or ELSE.
No one cares about your server rankings (or any server)
Cause balance has been one of the best dps specs in the game for like 5 years straight. and they were still one of the best in EP even if they aren’t the very best atm
I mean you’re the one that said it, but there is a huge difference in boomkin dps from a blue to a 99.
Open up statistics for all percentiles and have a look at the max percentile dot, they look midpack to me and way ahead of feral at max.
I also don’t understand why you keep comparing yourself to a single shard, (I didn’t even know that server existed), but then you compare boomkins to the entire world, but only on 95th percentile?
What’s the reasoning behind this? Self-pity?

That doesn’t mean balance sucks as single target though. They’re still a great damaging class that simply skyrockets even more on those style of fights.
Oh. You again. Weren’t you whining about this sometime earlier this year, only to ignore everyone’s advice?
Balance has been average to good the last 5 years straight; never the best 5, never the worst 5. Balance generally flies just under the radar of needing nerfs.
Now Balance is getting a small dot nerf b/c it looks too similar to Spriest that has egregious outlier dps on spread cleave. The sad part is Balance is #5 on Queen’s Court. #2 Destro #3 Afflic, and #4 Ele also have dots but are not getting dot nerfs as part of the philosophy behind spriest (and therefore balance) dot nerfs.
Orgo with stack cleave/priority damage, Balance looks pretty bad.
Azshara with some spread cleave, Balance is balanced in the exact middle of the pack. Feral top 5 on that fight fyi.
If they don’t want us dotting for AoE they could at least give us usable Starfall back. Sure it was crazy in Legion, but they over corrected by removing artifact traits, removing the other artifact traits removing legos, nerfing 2 talents, nerfing damage.
Why does it matter if stuff dies?
It’s not like you are going to go:
“OMG…I DID 5K LESS DAMAGE THAN A WARLOCK! I NEED TO REROLL!”
WHY does it matter at all?
You kill stuff and move on to the next Mob. So what if you are in the Middle at the top or at the bottom?
Play what is fun to you, not worrying about satisfying the DPS Police!

Balance druid is still 10x more fun to play than mage though.

Ashvane is a fight where timing your cooldowns around when you can affect the boss’s hp vs smashing them on cd is important. For boomkins running starlord and CLF that means missing one or more usage of our burst phase. Boomkin damage is highly dependent on time inside cooldowns as our dps outside of cooldowns is significantly less than a lot of other classes.
Boomkins are not garbage. They aren’t S tier, but they hold their own.

Anyway its not my fault I’m not allowed to tank and the fact I’m screwed on azerite gear and rng won’t give me any good drops. My gear is absolute garbage and I’m at a huge disadvantage from everyone else in my raid group. I keep telling my guild to bench me so I can try tank parses but they won’t. Feels like I’m literally held hostage at this point.
I have no path to any good performance and the only way forward is to quit my toon entirely
It’s a pony Eternal Palace has a borderline inappropriate level of affection for.
Also keep in mind a full Ashvane parse may not be the best gauge of useful damage. Ashvane is all about withholding your big bursts for key intervals, and that’s both our biggest strength and weakness. When you see an spriest or fury pulling insane numbers on Ashvane, it’s usually because they 3-phased it and she was in execute range for the whole third carapace – but chances are the kill was a lot rougher than if they took a bunch of boomies that parsed a seemingly mediocre 43k, but 2-phased it because they spike well past 70k in the vulnerability windows that count most.
Also remember boomies are tanky as hecc. They can take early dot stacks and handle split-soak mechanics with relatively little risk during non-CA periods where we’re already doing relatively little damage, which frees up other people with more robust baseline damage to not worry about it.
Man, being ranked about 20 overall on my shard for logs and 3rd boomy on server… And still just making blue parses now with the only thing that’s improved is my group as a whole and not even me…
Literally a horrible feeling. I went from destroying every meter possible on my old fury war in wotlk to feeling mediocre no matter what I do. When we just started mythic in EP even if I was top on damage I’d still be a green parse. Nothing no matter what would get me out of green other than my whole group improving and now they’ve all past me and I have no way to ever be in excellence territory without rng fixing my gear. Is a horrible feeling.
Obviously I’m not the best boomy out there and I wouldn’t even be top 100 on Illidan but that’s literally how garbage my server shard really is. A player as bad as me is 3rd best boomy, 2nd boomy out Sims me by 3k now as well. Nothing I can do about that other than be barely on par even if I manage to outplay her. It’s beyond infuriating at this point. I’ll even admit she wastes less empowerment and bursts a little higher than me, but off cooldowns is where I can catch up. Anyway I’ve probably plateaed at my capability on this spec with the only way to be better is overcome with brute force gearing tactics.
Trying for over 3 months I haven’t gotten one bit better at my spec
