I think many players have summed up the same issues I have with balance in SL at this moment. I like the bfa system but I do want the starfall changes.
This post is to ask for something in pvp: a pvp talent on a (30s?) CD that gives you an eclipse; make it random, make it make your next wrath or Starfire instant and proc one, idc the method.
When you setup your burst and get cc’d for 6-8 seconds with no time to ramp it back up it’s going to suck and feel awful when that DH pops meta and instantly does full damage while you tickle him.
What about tying something to Owlkin Frenzy - like when Owlkin Frenzy procs, you get a short buff called Perigee that buffs all instant cast damage for a few seconds so that your instant starfire (and WoE starfires to boot) and any starsurges would hit hard after CC. Also bring back the spell from WoD that instantly generated AP
You just cannot make Balance druid damage too high because the Balance kit is too strong. Good defensives, good passive damage reduction, great off-healing, excellent CC (root, beam, clone) that if Balance druid is pumping like Destro Warlock levels of damage, what role does Destro warlock have in the meta? You know?
The times when Balance has been strongest are the eras when Incarn windows have been the most egregiously powerful and frankly I think that’s the best way to approach Balance druid from a PvP development standpoint; buff the utility and the healing and give us kill windows to capitalize on.
I’d love to see Balance druid’s get a Restoration Affinity for PvP that makes Regrowth always critically hit on teammates and gives Lifebloom back. Then give a buff to Owlkin Frenzy and then give Balance Streaking stars as either a last-tier talent that replaces New Moon (overdue really) or as another PvP talent.
That would make Balance a powerful force in 2vs2 and give it a very specific niche in 3s of utility / survivability until burst windows.
I can see that problem for the Balance spec. Balance having to do a good bit to get the same results as another classes 2 spells. Could be small % lacking from all around that makes it that way due to the classe being a well rounded class. Seems like small changes in one thing makes the spec drastically change.
If I’m understanding correctly.
This argument doesn’t make sense in a game where paladins, shamans, and a variety of other DPS specs have better damage, better self healing, and similar utility. Go try to 1v1 an ele shaman with equivalent gear and then ask yourself what the point of yourself is.
