Bait and switch with traders post

Seriously…nice bait and switch for us to get used to the nice new feature of the trading post…All to then slowly fade out the ability to gain it naturally through the game and increase the prices over time for rewards and then have the option to pay for it with real money… True example of carrot on a stick!

Say what lol

What? I think your outrage is a bit premature.

It isn’t bait and switch unless they were to remove the currency. Which to my knowledge isn’t happening.

The trader post shop assets have been datamined. It’s not guaranteed, but it looks very likely.

If it does happen over time expect the trading post to be slowly changed to encourage purchasing them through the shop because that’s how these systems work.

No I wouldn’t file this as bait and switch, but if I was someone in love with the tenders system I’d be very nervous of what it will look like in the future. Increased prices, no cap on purchasing tenders, increased items to encourage buying tokens, etc.

All done to milk you just a little bit more.

Nothing has even happened. Those icons have no reference for what they’re for.

You all know that Blizzard’s goal is to make you spend money right? Subscriptions, Services, Shop Items, etc… All to get you spending more time on the casino floor and letting the money flow.

Which is expected. I expected it the day the shop was implemented. Now, same as then, as long as it remained as cosmetics only, I don’t have a problem.

I honestly don’t know what tell all of you that couldn’t see the trading post for the microtransaction hellhole it was always destined to be.

Blizz is soft balling this in for you guys. Right now they’re handing out the tendies so you don’t have much to actually complain about. That probably won’t last forever, but before they bring that to a grinding halt, they’re probably going to take a back seat on asset design, making new armors look like garbage to encourage you to seek out the trading post. It’s at that point that they’ll start rolling back the free tendie handouts.

Seriously guys, this was always the future of the trading post, all you have to decide is if pay to mog is the game for you or not lol

Yup its the goal for all companies, wouldn’t be surprised that they made season 2 harder just so that people buy more carries and tokens

WoWhead has datamined them as shop assets.

Regardless, they uploaded variations of tenders with a number next to them which is exactly what you’d expect to find in a shop. I’d really love to see people’s takes on what they think they are if they’re not shop assets.

Usually, things that are set for microtransactions have like… five options.

There are about 20 different Tender currency options, which make no sense for setting it up for microtransactions. I think they’re just bulk rewards for doing more things. I could very-well be wrong, though.

It is funny that people were complaining that there were no ways to get more Tendies after they were done in the month, so Blizz adds a way to get more Tendies and people complain.

I’m not defending it, don’t make a Twitter-level jump.

Wrath set it all in motion with the first mount for purchase.

It started there in the golden era.

Wowhead also datamined Tyrael’s Charger to be on the Trading Post and it wasn’t.

Wowhead is really good with troll posts and no information.

It’s also exactly in the amounts we can loot from the Trading Post chest.

The problem is people think this is gonna be some hard switch. Like one day Blizzard will start selling mythic raid level gear in the shop and that’ll be the day we rally against Blizzard. Reality is being able to purchase gear in this game already exists. Buy wow token buy whatever level of carry you want and ultimately get gear.

But very few people see this as a problem or truly being able to buy gear because there’s extra steps between the purchasing of gold via cash and using the playerbase as the middleman to receiving the loot. Despite the fact that the objective facts are that there is a path to inject cash into the game and get loot out of it…nono, we can’t buy gear.

We’re further along to being able to buy gear than you think. It’s a slippery slope and we’ve been on it for a while.

That’s honestly not what most of these threads have been about. It’s been about taking something that was giving us tasks to have fun out in the world and earn something in game and turning it into a cash shop thing.

But it’s premature outrage. And again, those tokens are in the amounts we can pick up from the Trading Post chest. Notice they don’t go over 1000. Which is the most we can earn. And right now, there’s no indication that we even got our Tender when we open that chest. And with the Traveler’s Log being wonky and not showing correct numbers, it may just be a loot icon for the chest.

If they really wanted me to spend money, they’d give me my own gnome NPC who I could boss around!

Like go fetch me some ore!

It’s still being datamined as that. It’s back under the trading post category and being stated eventually being available next patch.

There’s definitely things they get wrong, but if they find it it usually shows up somewhere in the game unless it gets scrapped.

Sooooo assets that should already exist in the game if it’s for that.

shrug

Guess we will see, but I give you very low odds of being right.

It was seen coming since they presented this month’s rewards. Normally they gave you a choice of a good reward and others of lesser quality, you could never reach 100% of the items, but you left satisfied.
this month there were 2 mounts, full mog set, and several high priced mogs. they themselves create the demand, you can’t access all the items… would you like to buy them for real money?

To those who say that it is a company and its objective is to make money, they are right, but for that they already have a store inside and outside the game.

For those who say that they are microtransactions that affect a small part of the game… just wait, this is a test, if it is positive they will put more and more.

The saddest thing is that the trading post was very well received by the community, it doesn’t even take 1 year for it to be ruined

Don’t get me wrong. I still take issue with the WoW token. The rest is fine. It’s either a service or cosmetic.
