Bag addons

I’ve used Bagnon for years and loved it. Even though Blizzard gives us the option of one big bag, I still use Bagnon for the following feature that I have grown used to having: When I mouse over a mat in a crafting window or anywhere, a tooltip tells me how many I have in my bag, how many I have in my bank, how many each of my alts have. I can even just open my bag, mouse over an item, and it tells me the same, how many in my bank, and how many my alts have.

This makes crafting sooo much easier because I don’t have to try and remember what’s in my bank and what my alts have. I didn’t realize how much I need that feature until I tried installing AdiBags. AdiBags is so much better in the way it categorizes everything for me, but it doesn’t have any of the features I mentioned.

The main problem I am having with Bagnon is a bug that occasionally and randomly forces me to reload UI. That can really suck in the middle of a dungeon or raid. I don’t know if it’s caused by another addon or what, but it’s been going on since I came back to WoW about 4 months ago.

Does anyone know of an addon that just gives the mouseover tooltips that works with any bag addon?

stock UI does this.

no?

Not for me it doesn’t

Doesnt for me either.

i don’t have any addons which would do this, and since as far back as i can recall, the crafting window has always shown this info.

the only component from this recipe i have in my bags/bank, is vials.

34 of them.

The only add on I know of that shares a lot of information is Altoholic. I havent used it in ages as I seem to recall it took a lot of memory and I think it was a bit buggy at the time. Not sure what it is like now.

Try Altoholic. It also lets you search across all alts if you’re not sure where you left something:

If you want some basic improvements to the Blizzard ‘one bag’, try Litebag:

You can create spaces between rows and columns so it’s not just one big blob.

I think I just found my answer: BagSync

It’s beautiful. I can use AdiBags, and when I mouse over anything in my bags, it tells me what my alts have. It even breaks it down to bags, bank, or equipped.

A nice feature is that I can open a search box so even if I don’t have an item to mouseover on the character I’m playing, I can see if my alts have it.

TradeSkillMaster does that too, but its a huge memory sink. Just having TSM activated, not including the desktop App, it takes up 190MB on my PC. But if will tell you every character that has the item on that server, including guild banks you might own. So you can activate it to find out, then disable it. Bit fiddly but it helps me from time to time.

I have used TradeSkillMaster in the past, but I found it too overwhelming and and I really don’t want something that does that much. BagSync is perfect because it works with any bag addon so I can still use AdiBags.

Aye, thats why I turn it off when I’ve finished looking for things. I only have it installed on a couple of AH toons, the rest dont need it. I just prefer not to use bag add ons of any sort as I’ve found they seem to conflict with the UI bag setup. But if what you have works ok for you, that’s all you need to worry about. (:

Bank Items. It’s on Github. I use it and it works well.

I also use LiteBag which is on Curse and a few of its little addons.

They’re better than Bagnon.

Nah, unfortunately. I would give up bagnon if it did.

Try my two! They’re nice. And lightweight. When I get home I’ll post the links. I’m out of town atm.

I use an add on called Bagsync.

the part i was responding to, is covered with the stock UI.
i even linked a picture which shows it…

have you done a full UI reset since you’ve returned?
you could have something lingering in your files causing dramas for you

They want it to show in the bag tooltip. It would be super annoying to have to open the Recipe window every time you want to check your inventory.

Plus add ons can tell you if alts have the item. Helpful for the more rare items.

Only if it’s a crafting mat that you have a recipe for. And it doesn’t tell you how many you have on your alts. Nor how many mats you have if you don’t have a craft that uses it.

I used to use Altoholic for that, but after they broke it I was never able to get it working again.

ahh ok.

i got hung up on the bit where they said “in the crafting window”

Yeah so I am definitely loving the AdiBags and BagSync combo. I love that AdiBags automatically puts items in categories so I don’t have to spend any time moving items around in my bags. And now I’m discovering that BagSync even lets you see all the recipes that your alts know and what the required mats are. I don’t even have to write out a list before I switch alts.
