I charitably give Rannan a pass because he’s obviously a mega dork who probably just isn’t that great at speaking in general.

I wonder if that’s just how he is instructed to sound.
So far the Earthen seem peculiar to me. Almost robot like, but not quite. I think it’s intentional too. They all seem that way. Especially with all the talk about their directives.
I am barely into the quests though, I played maybe an hour and a half and got to 71 before I had to go to work.
I assumed they would be a lot more like our Dwarves and Dark Irons but no, not really.
My view on them has changed for sure.

Thats exactly what earthen are.
Theyre titan constructs but with souls and free will.
Theyre robots, but also regular people.
So sounding kinda robotic and kinda normal is a good choice for them imo

The earthen voice acting in general is pretty bad. No emotion. They all sound like they are bored, even when baelgrim’s death they still sound bored and unaffected dispite what the lines try to imply.

All the Earthen voices are bland and uninteresting, like someone handed the voice actors a (terrible) script and said, “Sound artificial.” They need a reverb or something to make them sound more alien.

Once you realize the Earthen aren’t Scottish, it’s not that big of a deal.
Is it great? No.
Is it Wuk Lamat levels of bad? No.

They just need to consult with the great forum community and streamers to “free of charge” record all the dialogue
Or at least give us the non essential NPCs like Baelgrim. Players get their 15 minutes of fame.
So much dialogue is written. Let us have voice packs. An option to turn them on/off
Have a hidden room in the final raid showing credits to voices. Obviously using our toon names or streamer names
We could have players past and present reprise their roles as static NPCs as part of big events. Instead of "Bal’a dash, malanore” clicking on my toon you get me saying “balderdash, ma’lady Lenora” or something goofy

They do end up just killing him off near the end of the first zone.
Likely reasoned that they didn’t need a high-quality voice act.
