Badges and Tokens

Badges and Tokens should make a come-back in season 4 and beyond in WoW future. There is no worse feeling than doing your 30th or 50th run in mythic+ or raiding and not getting what you need. Blizzard adding tokens as a pitty reward in your great vault to allow you to socket your gear is going in the right direction. Badges and Tokens allow players to feel as if their efforts are not going to waste and is a form of bad luck protection, yes we do have the great vault but what then after you have done your 10 mythic runs and your valor is capped?

How it would work in my head is, you still get the same rewards in mythic+ with the added bonus of adding badges you can use at a vendor that has dungeon gear but the gear is always at 1/12, you have to use the valor (which is still capped weekly) to level it up to whatever your mythic+ score is. With valor being capped you won’t have people bloating with gear in week one of the new season and with badges you allow people to work for something and perhaps get more people to go into mythic+ more knowing their efforts aren’t in vain thanks to a bad luck protection system such as badges.

How lucky are you in mythic+?
Would you like to see a badge system return in modern WoW?

Its been to long since I’ve run Mythic+ sadly, the amount of anxiety about my ability to tank is just to dang high!
But I would love a badge system return, really any currency based system that allow people with the worst of luck to eventually buy the gear they were trying to farm!

However I think this could come with a few caveats to still make dropped loot more of an exciting reward still:
The currency bought item would be a few ilvl lower, not a huge deal, but something that would still mean you’d want the drop item.
And to not make the currency bought items completly useless, have more gear with abilities attached to them. Some sort of set or trinekt style effect to make it more than just a stat stick compared to normal quest gear.

Basically yes, and we need more items with effects to make dungeons and raid gear more than quest gear in more ways than just ilvl

I think the M+ vendor should just sell items outright.

If the item drops in vault directly, good pick that. If it doesn’t, then go with the currency, after X number of weeks, you can just buy whatever item you want from the vendor.

Could you just choose currency for weeks on end and forego the vault loot, sure, but you would skip a ton of incremental upgrades.

Could you end up blowing all of your currency on an item that drops on your next week’s GV? Yep. I would still prefer this over the vault of many disappointments which it turns into about 3/4 of the way through gearing.

The tokens wouldn’t be bad for us, the m+ are very long when you’re farming something specific. I’d like to put a vendor to change any dungueon of your choice for a cost of anima, because it’s easy to get.

I think they should implement the tbc badge system and buy items with 252 or 260 ilvl, and another thing like adding upgradeable trinkets from previous tiers, because some of them are still good.
