By its nature that would mean consuming the other cosmic forces. Somehow, that doesn’t seem to fit the whole, ‘Harmony,’ thing the First Ones were aiming for.
Not necessarily. The Void was probably designed to be the force that cleans the house. They should get rid of the things that are unneeded or unwanted, not everything.
It’s a similar situation to Death. Death has a nature and a purpose. Even so, Death is not supposed to try to kill the other Cosmic Forces.
I believe they survive on popularity. Writing since their lore was established has been very lame with nothing but losses and their leaders being dreadlords or death knights.
we guess on the story forum that light lords exist because naaru go between void and light forms also
I don’t think thats unintentional. We’ve seen most of the cosmic forces at this point and most of them that are good tend to want to stay in their lane and not overtly encroach on others. The titans with order for the most part just want planets to have a chance to prosper, the death pantheon wants to preserve the framework set about by the first ones which at least partially is why zovaal rebelled because he saw how one force was destined to win and he wanted death to be that force. The light doesn’t really seem to be trying to extend its reach aside from stopping other forces from intruding though this may change. Both the void and the fel try to expand their influence constantly, no matter what or who they harm which is kinda why they’re both seen as bad.
To be fair, Disorder wasn’t a real problem until Sargeras took it over. And that was already a point of corruption, because he is a Titan, a big boss of Order. That’s why the Burning Legion does things like “marching in unison” and “working towards an unified purpose”, which are not disorderly things.
It’s just the Void that seems to be a problem on it’s own, but at the same time we never got to see the Void’s PoV on the matter. Maybe there were some good Void Lords that opposed the bad ones, and they lost the fight.
To be completely fair, Eonar has a genesaur in her backyard. Life honestly seems more aligned with Chaos then order. I’m surprised she’s even on the pantheon.
I’m still more interested in the big light thing in the skybox. My bets on naruu or something. A day or two ago someone told me they think it’s the Apexis from Draenor which is pretty interesting but seems a little bit too outlandish at the moment.
I’m down for bad Titans but good Void lords make no sense.
I think the best we can hope for is understanding their perspective, even if we strongly disagree with it. A void lord will never be in my chill books.
Or we can shove all this cosmology nonsense into the bin where it belongs.
This idea that all these primordial forces are actually teams with agendas that are all divided contradicts pretty much everything pre-Shadowlands.
Each of these supposed cosmic forces coalesce with each other at so many points. The Titans have frequently been associated with Life and many of their creations are Light users. Demons use shadow magic all the time. Light and Life completely overlap like 40% of the time. Wild Gods which are supposed to be personifications with Nature associate themselves with Light, Arcane and Shadow all the time.
It’s ridiculous to pretend there’s some arbitrary division between these forces. Hell just ask why Titans put Alexstrasza in charge of Life then also made her the leader if they’re supposed to be team Arcane and this automatically falls apart.
I think we assume the Void Lords are evil because they’re very self interested… but, I think we’re finding out that’s exactly how the Titans are as well, so are the Titans evil as well?
I don’t think it’s the job or ability of ants to judge humans, even as those ants are being stepped on.
Realistically cosmological beings should exist and rationalize in radically different ways than lesser beings could hope to understand… but, what we’ll get is Void Lords are bad, go kill them over 3 raids and 8 dungeons. No nuance, no cadence, no complexity, just a repeat of literally every expansion to date. Void Lords will be a unique skin for a boss we’ve already killed like 40 times.
Void beings devouring reality is actually a good thing. Think of all the terrible things that happen in this universe of endless war and then think of all the evils and suffering they erase by devouring reality
