Bad players is why we need Raider.Io.
Ok, I just got out of a Mythic+0 Plaguefall dungeon. I wanted to give the people signing up to my dungeon the benefit of the doubt and I didn’t screen at all other than if they had a 175+ ilvl, and no R.IO score considered. I picked 2 dps, 1 healer, 1 tank. (It took a bit to form the group since I was on my hunter, and typically people don’t sign up to a single dps’ dungeon group)
We go to the first boss, Globgrog, and after 4 wipes, the tank and healer left, and then the party dissolved. The warlock and ret paladin that were my other 2 dps mates got hit by the slime projection each and every wipe, and were among the first to die. The healer got hit by it on 3 of the wipes. I explained the fight mechanics, and asked them to prio the adds and stun / slow them while the tank kited. They didn’t do any of that. They literally kept targeting the boss each and every attempt.
I felt like 4 wipes was enough, seeing as how 3 of the players I brought into the dungeon without any bias whatsoever (except a min ilvl of 175) continued to fail on the same mechanics over and over.
This is why Raider.Io is so important. This is why players want ways to screen other players for potential skill level, because ilvl means absolutely nothing to determine skill.
If you are against Raider.Io, you are free to do exactly what I did, and invite players without any bias at all, but you are likely to encounter situations just like I did, even admist rather simple dungeon difficulty and boss mechanics.

Raider IO for M0? Come on man, it’s not even Sunday.

Raider io much like any filtering system in the past is a bandage fix to a pug problem.
Blizzard should just Nuke pugs from orbit .

Would it be any different if it was a M+8 and a min ilvl of 200? The fact that it was a M+0 is irrelevant. The players who I invited without bias were bad plain and simple. R.IO screening would have most likely made the difference on wiping 4 times, or being successful the first time.

Just curious, did you ask if they were aware of the mechanics and knew the fight? I had a similar issue recently and come to find out they were a bit confused on the mechanics. After explaining, we moved forward. Not saying that it should take 4 wipes to get the hint, just curious as to what was said during the actual dungeon.
Also, one more genuine question, I thought Raider .io was specifically meant to track progression. Which I guess leads me back to my original question of how it would be used to explain knowledge of mechanics.

I gave a brief overview of what they needed to do for that first boss in the dungeon. They basically ignored all the mechanics every wipe. I can understand the first wipe because maybe they haven’t done the boss before on mythic, but 2-3-4 times?

While I don’t like IO, I think the OPs point is that some people are horrifically bad at the content that people feel that back ground checking is necessary.
Whether IO was needed for the Mythic specifically doesn’t feel like the actual point.

Okay then yeah that makes a bit more sense. My biggest thing with pugs is communication. Especially if it’s my group/key. If they’re not admitting to being aware of mechanics or understanding what you’re saying then I don’t even say they’re bad, they’re just difficult lol but I guess that’s my nice version
Did we need another thread about RIO?

Yes, it would be different. It’s a M0. Even I do those.
Seems like it’s either this or “Alliance is dying!” week.

Has nothing to do with RIO score. I’ve invited 900-1000 to my +10s and they’re also terrible players. Leavers happen at all RIO levels.
The true issue here is the un-needed timers Blizz puts on dungeons. If a single wipe happens, in MOST cases the +2 is dead and people don’t want to deal with getting their RIO score lowered, so they leave.
Blame BLIZZ, not the players.
EDIT: Misworded. What I meant was that they would rather not waste their time in a dungeon that won’t raise their score in a meaningful way.
Example: I was in a +12 Halls last night. We had one wipe because someone backed up into a pat and pulled. We wiped. The tank and 1 DPS immediately left. I whispered “WHY?”. They said we won’t time the dungeon anyway, so why bother? The timers are the real culprit here. Blame Blizz.

Back in my day we cleared all content without Raider IO just had to inspect the player joining…now get off my lawn!

I obviously dont do this content but i want to ask:
Are regular Mythic and Mythic0 / +0 actually two different things?
I’ve done 3 mythic 0s, one was plaguefaill (were on 3rd boss) with 0 issues and was the first mythic I’d done this expansion, 2nd was De Other Side and third was spires (was my first time in spires at all) with no issues, I have no Raider io score nor do I want one but all 3 groups accepted me instantly and just let me do my tanky goodness.
Different people have different experiences.
I’m just thanking every higher power there has ever been that we’re past ‘casual vs elitists’ week.

I like Raider IO because you can see people’s track records and make sure they are worth inviting.
It’s your group after all you are entitled to decide for yourself who gets in it and who does not.
It’s not guaranteed that you will succeed but it increases your chance filtering out the people that will brick it 100%.
