In my 10 years of pugging, I’ve only come across maybe one or two groups were full of not nice people. That’s a pretty good rate right?
Then last night, had a player that was so “bleh” it made me want to jump into the screen and give them a good bonk to the face.
He was pulling ahead of the tank, and demanding the tank go faster (This was a Timewalking btw). We were just doing a Heroic Blood Furnace, and the tank was actually pulling at a good speed, or at least I thought so. Then the hunter comes in and starts yellin and going all gung-ho.
The hunter would often die and I know it’s bad, but I got a kick out of it every time. Then I told the tank to pull what he’s comfortable with, and the hunter decided call me a “Soyboy” for suggesting that.
I told the hunter, “If you don’t like the way things are, you can leave”, and he still proceeded to face pull almost every mob and die, and then he would get angry.
I think the part that got to me the most, was the fact that there was a new healer in there, and they kept apologizing for people dying. I felt so bad for him having a horrible experience like this, and then the hunter decided to afk before the last boss, throwing a temper tantrum.
I don’t get how or why people can so nasty on this game to complete strangers…

Just remember that not only are you playing with people from around the world you are also playing with people of varying age ranges as well.
And some players just don’t give a hoot.

But in all seriousness guy might have mental issues. Though in the same breath back in the day the internet was the wild west. All this pales to halo 3 lobbies or mwf2 servers back in the day lol. So idk I think the answer is it’s an online game on the internet. That’s honestly just part of the experience.
I think it’s more of “What’s going on in these people’s minds” when they act like this. Was it not being disciplined enough as a kid, or not getting enough attention, etc…
No, it’s not my first time dealing with this, but it happens so rarely (in the groups I’m in) that it’s always a surprise when it does. These groups really resonate with you, and I don’t like it.
pulls mob and tricks of trades the healer

It’s kind of like how you’ll more often remember bad memories than good memories, our brains are wired for it. I’ve had many good groups over the years of playing, yet the most memorable group was in BfA when a pug tank decided to pull those leeches in The Underrot on a +15 Bursting week and nuking them down with like all of his CDs. For both pulls. And then rage quitting when everyone died the second time.
Anonymity. 99.9% of people wouldn’t be so toxic and “tough” acting if they didn’t have computers to hide behind.
It’s a cowards way of life.

Idk I’m pretty sure karens and public freakouts have proven this number incorrect.

I am as laid back as they get. I do not care if we wipe over and over, do not make the timer or whatever. As long as the job gets done eventually. I avoid mythic raiding and high level keys for this very reason.
That’s common in content like timewalking. If I had to guess, the ones that do that stuff are bad, are children, are stupid, all of the above.
Most people walk into timewalking expecting to fly through it because it’s easy content for the most part. You’re not gonna get a real dungeon experience doing timewalking most of the time.

I think social media videos have proven this time honored assertion to be false.
Why didn’t you just vote to kick if it was tw?

Social media videos? You mean the videos that people make hiding behind their keyboards and cam corders?
The toxicity wouldn’t be near as bad if people didnt have a save space to hide from others when they act like this. You can’t tell me otherwise.
I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals. I’m trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You think you can get away with saying crap to me over the internet?

I hate being that guy, but I find it hard to believe that this is actually the case. Seems to me that the more likely culprit in these situations is you.
Just let him die the repair bill will be punishment enough and it’s kind of funny
No, I don’t. I’m taking about all the gazillion videos of people acting a fool in public with no screen to hide behind.
I mean yea, you’re definitely free to ignore reality all you please lol
why is there so many posts about toxicity man the topic has been beaten into the dirt. there’s bad people irl, they play game → they’re bad in game → someone makes post about 1 experience → bad people probably laughing at forum post
these kinda posts just give them a platform to continue doing what they’re doing because they find it hilarious you’re posting about a 1 off experience.

bad people is relative as well.
in your case it looks like you found a genuinely bad person but ppl will call anything toxic these days.
ive been called a toxic ahole for saying “how did you get to key level 22 without knowing this basic mechanic!?” when the intent was just to make sure they would remember it from now on
everyone’s a bad person to someone i guess.
But…but… I’m an ex Army Ranger and I lift over 250 pounds easily, make six figures a year, and have a degree in microbiology
