The unlock requirement is to complete the initial TWW campaign and a few side quests. Fine, not an issue.
…except completing TWW campaign isn’t possible yet since it’s timegated until 3rd September. There has been no clarity on this beforehand whatsoever.
So first thing we learn that it’s not possible to unlock the Earthen during the EA period which is not good since it would have been a perfect time for people who got to play early to create and level up new characters over the weekend.
Now the expansion has launched, additional TWW campaign quests have come online, but not all of them so it’s still not possible to unlock the new race - gotta wait till next week for that.
This lack of clear communication feels like a borderline scam, especially considering that there’s an active paid race change promotion that ends on 2nd September, right before the Earthen can be unlocked.
What makes it worse is that on the official roadmap it is shown that the Earthen were supposed to be available with the start of the EA and yet here we are.
They put out the roadmap, had an article called “early access now live” where they said you could unlock earthen by doing the levelling campaign, sent out an email advertising early access by saying you unlock earthen by doing the levelling campaign, and then did not let us unlock earthen.
I have no doubt they intentionally tricked us to get as much money as possible.
My respect for blizzard cant really go much lower at this point.
The thing i cant work out though is why they wouldnt just make the campaign available earlier.
Seems easier than deception, but what do i know.
Pixels or not it was pretty poorly communicated. I hate the new race and definitely won’t be playing one and I still agree that this was misleading. It’s not the end of the world but still could have been better as I was also under the assumption that they would be available at EA
Honestly it is not surprising. If they were able to be unlocked during Early Access the forums would just complain about it being an unfair advantage or something along those lines.
Since they are allowing everyone to unlock at the same time now you have the other side complaining that they couldn’t unlock with Early Access.
I get it could have been announced last Wednesday before release but I imagine it was a last minute decision to avoid any more Early Access “pay to win” talk.
I have no skin in this game, as I don’t care about Earthen. But you can’t get that stuff back once it’s gone for the week. So those people are behind now.
They didn’t release them in Early Access as it’d be unfair to the rest of the player base and feel more like people buying an advantage or what have you. They’re trying to make sure everyone has a fair chance now that reputation requirements aren’t a thing for new races. Just wait a week and you’ll be just fine, nothing to get uptight about. I mean it’s not the first time they’ve done this so why would now be any different?
I mean, it’s mostly about the waiting to announce, Ibut it does suck immensely that I have zero reason to play at the LAUNCH of the expansion because of this
I honestly don’t understand the RUSH mindset to get through this expansion. There’s Quests to look through, there’s Devles, there’s rares, there’s land to explore, there’s professions… WHY RUSH TO 80"?? I had Early access and I’m not even past hallowfall I’m STILL going through quests there just enjoying this. I suppose you do you, but complaining about it just has one sounding… childish and entitled…? I dunno. You do you boo
You’re behind if you intended to main an Earthen this patch and that main would have professions. Currently professions are based on DF, which has no catch-up mechanics if you miss a week. Everyone starting professions now has a head-start over any Earthen character that will be doing professions, but starting on 3-Sep instead of 26-Aug.
Not a big deal to me as I’m not making an Earthen, but it’s a valid discrepancy.
