Bad Call Blizz

Blizzard seems to be making a number of questionable decisions lately.
The most recent being the banning of multibox software.
Now, I get it, it’s their game, and if they don’t want boxers, theyre free to make it against TOS, and the boxers could move to another game.
But, from a financial standpoint, this seems like a bad call.

This will obviously cause multiboxers to quit and move to other games.
And think about that.
If a multiboxer quits, Blizzard doesn’t just lose $15/month.
They lose $15/month times the number of accounts the boxer had.
So a 24-man boxer leaving would cost Blizzard $360/month.
And this is just for ONE person leaving. Across the number of boxers that will likely leave, this is a significant financial loss.

Not to mention the fact that they made this announcement before Shadowlands.
Now I respect their integrity for doing this before Shadowlands was released (making it after, when multiboxers buy the expansion and THEN get told they can’t play would be outright evil), from a financial standpoint, this will cause another significant loss of money.

Let’s say all multiboxers only bought, or were going to buy, the base edition of the game ($40).
$40 times 24 accounts is a $960 loss or opportunity cost for ONE multiboxer refunding or not buying it in the first place.
Now muktiplu this by the number of 24-man boxers, and include the smaller boxers with it, and this is a significant financial loss.

Thus, from a financial standpoint, banning multiboxing software is going to hurt Blizzard more than it will help the game.
Multiboxing is NOT botting. Blizzard already made the distinction long ago and made the choice to allow multiboxing, but not botting, in their game.
If they were against multiboxing they should have banned it long ago.
Because think about it: Let’s say a certain number of players are against multiboxing in games. Thus, when Blizzard announced that multiboxing was going to be included in WoW, those players probably QUIT. Now, is getting rid of multiboxing now going to bring those players back? No! Those players probably moved on to other games and will likely not be aware of Blizzard’s new policy.
Had multiboxing software been banned at the start, the people for multiboxing would have left, yes, but the people against multiboxing would still be playing WoW.

Thus, this decision will only hurt the game and Blizzard financially.

(And no, I’m not a multiboxer. Never have, and too cheap to ever will.)

I think it was a great call. Sometimes decisions shouldn’t just be focused on money. This game will be much more enjoyable without multi boxers.

Banning multiboxing has literally given me a new found respect for Blizzard. I’m so hyped for the expansions to come because of this decision, good riddance if you multiboxxed, I don’t care if you did it because you wanted to pretend your cat was playing with you, your grandma was visiting, or because you just wanted to RP with yourself. I’m glad it’s gone. I’m glad your leaving if you multiboxxed, and i’m glad I’ll never see 20 boomkins spamming moonfire ever again. This announcement made me believein WoW’s future longterm again.

Do you really think multiboxers who are farming all day pay real money for their game time?
With all the gold they can make from raw mats alone they can pay all of their game time with gold with some left over…

Pakomojo, you’re an avid WPvPer yea?
you gotta realize with this change the 40 DK multiboxers with Heart Stop won’t exist anymore

All WoW tokens bought came from someone else.
If we’re talking WoW tokens, then it’s $20/month instead of $15/month actually, so it’s even more costly.
(And yes, some do pay with money, since they don’t have time to farm all day.)

Ain’t nothing questionable about banning cheaters.

When decisions are not made based on finances but rather for the health of the game, I tend to respect a company a lot more. In this situation, Blizzard has made the choice to improve the game by forgoing the extra money they get from subscriptions and expansion purchases by multiboxers.

Leveling has been an absolute nightmare with the large groups of Druids skulking about, farming all of the questing areas. Various profession nodes are also almost non-existent because of this same issue. Multiboxing has always toed the line of acceptable player behavior, in my mind, because there’s a level of it becoming no better than what botting programs do anyway.

Kudos for Blizzard for making this call. Money shouldn’t always be a defining factor in decisions.

Good call Blizz! Multi-botting = BANNED! Finally we can all celebrate the end of legalized botting!

I’m glad my game isn’t going to have to deal with the massive impact of them using abilites/passing by etc.

They claim to be paying for their accounts with gold. So maybe Blizz doesn’t see it as a big loss?

You don’t think a company like this hasn’t thought everything through and that they will come to some revelation about this? Nah man. Just nah.

For me, it was a good call.

I love this “BUT BLIZZARD THINK OF THE FINANCIALS!!” acting like their accountants haven’t already done those calculations ten times over to ensure long-term it isn’t going to harm them.

That’s not how that works.

Why?
Do you take pleasure from ruining other’s game experiences?

Now look, as a PVPer, I do the same, but I ruin other people’s game experiences IN GAME, it by crying to Blizzard to get someone banned.

what??? they banned which software
