Well, I took off a week from work to play, and today I’m back at work and reflecting on the time spent this past week.
I had a great time. I play on Herod, and despite the que times, I managed to schedule my playtime around the massive login jams, by getting on early in the mornings. I got to level 39, and all my tradeskills (tailoring, skinning, fishing, cooking, first aid) all to 200+. Although I wasnt the server first 60, I had an absolute blast playing the way I wanted. I will now resume normal playtimes (after work and weekends).
For others who did the same thing as I did, how was your first week? Did you accomplish your first week goals? How badly are you struggling to get back into the swing at work? Was there anything you wish you’d done differently? I’d like to hear how others did.
Never understood people taking large amounts of time off of work to play a game.
It’s just like taking time off work to go spend money in another country, for people who enjoy video games it’s a legitimate vacation.
Well, Good Luck getting back into Herod back on your Work schedule. I rerolled off of Whitemane, because those queue times did not agree with my job.
That’s a pointless comment. The guy did what he wanted to do and he had a lot of fun. Sounds good to me.
Well I took a UD Priest to level 11 on Mon… hit with 4 hour queue on Tuesday… rerolled this Mage on Wednesday. Played all weekend… hit 32 last night. All my gear is premium green int/stam with a 32 blue int/stam +arcane damage staff.
Frost talents are solid… just put 1 pt into improved blizzard. 2 more levels I’ll be fully ready for AoE grinding and mass dungeon pulls.
Alchemy/Herb are 220ish… Cooking 190ish… First Aid 150. Just finished Duskwood/Wetlands and am preparing to start Arathi/Hillsbrad where I will also pick up the Expert First Aid book.
I’d say things are going well. I’m happy with my progress. Even killed 2 Horde on the way to get the Southshore flight path yesterday.
P.S. I didn’t take any time off work. I’m home at 3pm during the week and grinded it out over the holiday weekend.
My parents don’t understand why people play video games while they binge watch netflix.
I was very very lucky last week that we hit an off week at work where I had a lot of downtime. Since any pc with electricity can play classic wow, this meant I could clock in some solo leveling and using shadowmeld quite often on any work aggro.
I’ve never understood people who take time off work to get on a plane, sleep in a hotel and sit next to a pool.
Or those who complain about how others spend their vacation days.
I have 110 hours of vacation… but didn’t use it on WoW. Got a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise on Dec 8th, then a 10 night Hawaii cruise next September.
I could have taken a week off… but nah… I’ll save the days for later.
I’m seriously considering a WoWcation. Its almost embarassing to think about but its so good.
It is because you have never became successful. See a lot of us have and we have 6+ weeks a vacation with carry over. Keep trying, one day you will make it.
I’m saving the rest of my days for emergencies and if I don’t need them i usually like taking the last week of the year off because no one else is in the office.
I took 2 days off and got myself a nice 5 day weekend/mini staycation. I got to level 40 and got my first mount. The grind was really starting to take its toll though, and Im looking forward to taking the last 20 levels a bit slower now that I’m back to the real life grind.
Also, my old wrists hate me from never giving them a break. PC gaming for 12+ hours a day, 5 days straight, hurts!
I teach, so I’m unable to take time off, nor do I think I would even if I could. My druid is level 23 and my paladin is level 7. I’d like it if my professions were a bit higher, but that’s the way it rolled.
Ultimately, Im’ having a blast!
Initially I was planning to take a week off, but then I said no. I might not go back…
I mean SERIOUSLY how dare people take time off work to do something they enjoy.
Losers.
Playing 2 accounts. 1 with the wife only (so i dont burn by her in level) and another for solo play.
Warrior: 23 and healthy professions done.
Lock: 20 basic professions like first aid and fishing
Pally: 10 just cuz i never rolled one.
Avoiding the layer abuse system.
All in all i am having a blast!
pretty snide comment.
I also play on Herod! I took a week off, got server 2nd paladin to 60, 16th overall on Alliance. It all feels like a fever dream today, but I had a blast on the way up.
I had a massive amount of PTO stored up and Classic WoW was well worth taking the week off. Nothing wrong with taking a vacation in Azeroth
My goal was to experience it as I did in 2004 so I did not use any add ons and explored both continents freestyle. The vanilla nostalgia overwhelmed me so much I actually got teary eyed during some majestic moments. I’ve had the most incredible adventures with the most awesome people, truly a memorable experience!
