Back to toxic raid io

Toxic: The word that has lost all meaning.

Back from bed.

So pretty much those beneath you are “rats”. Okay then.

have you done harder content?
have you done LFR and paid attention to just how bad a large portion of the random queueing playerbase is?

there’s your answer.

And that’s the attitude of players. The affixes this week are a nightmare for a healer as well.

You aren’t excluded from anything in the game.

You want to do mythic raid? Make a guild and a raid team or find one.

You want to do a +15? Push your own key and invite whoever you like.

You want AoTC? You want a high rating in PvP? Make a group. Recruit people.

Raider io is a thing because of the difficulty level of keys. That’s it. Not players being exclusive, toxic or elitist. Especially now that gear rains from the sky you can’t go by ilvl to judge someones experience so you rely on their M+ history.

Raider IO is a necessity for anyone that wants to actually get content done and not carry someone through it. I’ve already seen enough 390 ilvl players not able to pull 10k in the new raid. Trust raider io is needed

I think it would be a better tool if it was more consistent and perhaps took more factors into consideration. Some servers score at a +2. Some servers score at +10. When it gets that high, its hard to grind up when nobody will take you. Its imperfect but I do think its fair, and unlike gear score it tracks progress, not auction house gold.

I just wish more people looked at it as a tool instead of the be all end all. Its a step in the right direction, but we’re not quite there yet. It certainly does breed a brand of toxicity however, that I can agree with. People treat low scorers like lepers and make fun of them without considering we were all new once and people can improve. But if people are never included, they don’t improve. Its okay to wipe. Its okay to mess up. Raider IO should be for high end guilds, not regular Joe Blow in trade chat who just watched his first “How to Beat G’huun” YouTube video.

This. 100%.

I feel no sympathy for the Raider IO haters. They knew this would be a thing based off the experience in season 1. That gave them an entire season to prepare for it. And if they’d done that, they’d have a solid season 1 score and wouldn’t be having issues now in season 2.

I got my non-meta WW monk to 1100 in season 1 exclusively through group finder PUGs. So it can be done. I switched to this guy and got him to 630 or so in the last week of season 1, and am now at about 600 or so less than a week into season 2.

To anyone who’s griping about Raider IO, here’s the solution:

  1. Learn what it is. I didn’t know either. I saw groups saying “checking wowprogress” (don’t see those anymore
) and didn’t know what those things were. I googled them. The internet said I needed to download a client and an addon app to see my score in game and the score of other people.

  2. Go to the website. Look up your character. You’ll see you get about 10 points x key level per dungeon if you make the timer. I noticed I had a terrible score, because I had been ignoring the dungeons I hated and those that didn’t drop any good loot for me. I quickly realized that you can’t ignore dungeons if you want a good score. Do not ignore dungeons.

  3. Learn the dungeons. Do them all on Mythic 0. If the run goes well, do that dungeon again on +2. Then +3. Then +4. If it goes poorly, and/or you were confused or not doing as well as you’d hoped, stop. Go read the dungeon guide, or google the fight that gave you trouble and watch a video. Now do it again on a low level, and hopefully, you know what to do this time. If not, repeat. Repeat. Repeat until you’ve seen these dungeons so many times you could do them in your sleep.

  4. Set goals for yourself. Complete all 10 dungeons on +3. That’s one affix, and it’s not hard to deal with. Now you have a 300 IO score. Realistically, you could apply for 4 and 5 keystone groups at this point. Start by applying for 5’s in your favorite dungeons. The easy ones. The ones you’re best at. Congrats, you finished a 5 on time. Now you have a 320 score. Do that for the other dungeons, and you’re at about 500.

  5. Now you’ve got a 500 score. You know these dungeons relatively well. You just don’t know the +7 and +10 affixes because you haven’t seen them. Google them. Make sure you know what they do. Read a guide. Seriously. They’re less than a page, and you can read about what every affix does and how to deal with it in 5 minutes. Time to practice what you’ve learned. With your 500 score, find a +7. Helps to choose an easy one. Or your favorite. Or a place that drops loot you want. In all cases, for me, the answer was always Freehold.

  6. Don’t be afraid to ask for tips. If you don’t know something, ask. When I did my first +7’s as I described above, I’d say to the group: “I’ve done this place on time up to a 6, but I haven’t dealt with explosives/grievous/etc. yet. What’s the best way to deal with that?”

  7. If you fail the +7, try it again. Keep trying. Eventually, you’ll time it. And now you’ll have a pretty good understanding of at least one +7 affix in practice. Now you can try another dungeon on +7. Or +6. Anything higher than the highest one you’ve already timed, because that’ll give you IO score.

Really, that’s it. Just repeat the above.

I can’t speak to all this griping about “runs not counting” because it’s honestly something I’ve never experienced. I ran my main to an 1100 score on a medium pop realm, and got this guy to 600 in the last week of season 1, and now 600 in the first week of season 2 on a high pop realm, and I’ve honestly never had a timed run not improve my score if it was a better run than my previous best run.

Here’s how you fix raider I.O.

Make your own group

Fixed, you’re welcome.

For Gnomeregan!

I didn’t care about this before I read your post.

I still don’t care. Raider .io? More like Schmaider .io.

I dont on my main. Cause I play with my guildies or make my own pugged group.

Well, I can’t make anyone care.

But I can say for sure that Raider IO matters, and is important, if you want to consistently get into good Mythic+ PUGs, and actually do well at them.

I just want my free chest on Tuesday tbh.

The issue is that you are playing a warlock. They just aren’t good in M+ once you get to 10 and higher. I rarely bring a warlock to my groups, unless they are a guildie.

IO is toxic, but it is a required. It gives key holders a incentive to invite pugs and know they have some degree of M+ experience. You can’t in this day of age invite someone based on ilvl alone, I’ve tried and worked horribly. IO is like a resume, it shows you are committed to M+ and are not just taking advantage of the key holder. You need IO and yes it will be toxic.
