Azshara imprisons Sylvanas?

I just saw a forum poster comment this in another thread and it sent my mind reeling!

I dont know how or why this would have happened but let’s say it did, how much of a curveball is that?!

Anyone here reckon it’s a possibility? I dont know how I’d react to being told she was prisoner all this time while Azshara walked about in her image…
We all know Azshara is an incredibly powerful mage…

That would be a curve ball

The last time Blizzard promised a twist in the writing, we were given exactly what everyone called without any surprise or nuance.

I hope they’ll be able to surprise me, but I’m just too cynical towards their writing team. I doubt they’d do anything like Azshara capturing Sylvanas. Considering Sylvanas wanted to make a deal with Helya, I’m betting Azshara is going to want her on her side (since the Kvaldir and Naga are at war) and since Sylvanas got involved with Helya, she’s going to get close to Azshara to kill her. Maybe that was the deal she made with Helya in exchange for the lantern?

Interesting but why would Helya want Azshara dead if that was the deal that was struck with Sylvanas for the lantern?

Helya is used to owning the seas with and for her Kvaldir. Azshara has been at war with her people since she ended up as Naga. But Helya seems incapable of handling her by herself, so perhaps she’s seeking outside aid.

We never find out what Helya got out of her deal with Sylvanas specifically for that lantern, and we already know Helya has returned through some flavor texts on islands. If the Kvaldir and Naga are still battling it out and are at war with each other, it won’t end until Azshara is dead. There are rumors that N’Zoth isn’t fond of Azshara, either, so I think it’s fair to say she earns enemies wherever she goes.

That wouldn’t be a curveball at all.

“The Big Bad manipulated the Horde into doing something evil” is basically the entirety of WoW’s story.

I suspect after we are forced to unite to survive azshara and nzgoth. Sylvie will use xeleteth and the master glaive to steal/steal thier powers.

Then she’ll go full gary with old god powers, azerite weapons designed by gallywinx and ashvane, and the icc vampire elves.

The horde rebels and the alliance will then be pitted against sylvie.

Thats my guess.

Well yeah but we are all led to believe that Sylvanas has just gone bat crazy and murderous on her rampage. Shes so completely out of character this expansion…
She blasted her own city to bits with plague. She seemingly on a whim split second changes her mind and burns down Teldrassil. Shes squaring right up to Baine Bloodhoof.

I dunno. Shes usually a lot more calculated and careful.

That’s also perfectly explicable. Blizzard routinely has characters forget their own powers and motives so the plot can progress.

The Alliance has a freaking spaceship that could blast Orgrimmar off the map that they forgot they had because if they did, the story would be over too soon.

Hell, Sylvanas just gained the ability to fly in that very cutscene and hasn’t used the ability since.

I find it more likely we’ll be teaming up with Azshara. Ion did say that we wont expect whats going to happen with her.

And if you think about about it, how much has Azshara actually done for N’zoth? Thousands of years and his plans still haven’t been met, she could intentionally have held off on it.

N’zoth isn’t unleashed until WE unleash him, it is us, in the span of a day that achieves his goal, where Azshara failed to do so in thousands of years.

Azshara becomes content that Tyrande is more beautiful than her (she was upset at Tyrande’s beauty in the books) and begins a a relationship.

Azshara has the power to manipulate people. She does this with Tyrande and then Malfurion dies. Tyrande figures it out. She confronts Azshara and Azshara said she only used the spell the first day.

Tyrande has been in love the whole time without the spell!! It’s a Disney miracle.

Then we finally get Tyrande with someone else and it’s a curve ball for sure.

Hmmm. It’s all food for thought I think. I dont think it’s likely we will ally ourselves with Azshara but that’s just based on past events.

That’s interesting, though it seems like a really bad deal from Sylvanas’s perspective (killing Azshara is a lot more difficult than just handing someone magic latern). But Sylvanas is also desperate for more val’kyr, and there was always the possibility Helya might end up dead soon, considering Odyn’s involvement with events on the Broken Islands (and that did happen as he asked us adventurers to kill Helya). So, Helya dies…Sylvanas doesn’t have to worry about keeping her end of the bargain.

One big problem…Helya is apparently not dead and will expect Sylvanas to keep her word and follow through on whatever she promised Helya in the bargain. So if killing Azshara was the deal, Sylvanas has to get a move on that, or face whatever consequences that would arise from crossing Helya. Also interesting is that Lady Ashvane is rumored to have ties to Azshara (because of the theft of the Kul Tiran fleet) and now Sylvanas is suddenly eager to break her out of Tol Dagor…which is successful

I hope that if Azshara imprisons Sylvanas, the rest of the Horde just pretends she’s dead and leaves her there.

Helya isnt dead… Sylvanas bargain may not yet be paid… Azshara is featuring heavily for the main focal point of 8.2.

Could be on to something here but the story could arc in so many different ways from this point.
We cant assume Sylvanas has completely given up on the Forsaken and has just gone renegade homicidal.

If Azshara is posing as Sylvanas as you seem to be assuming then it puts her thoughts shown in Before the Storm into perspective since we assumed they were Sylvanas’s.

The thoughts showed respect for Vol’jin and liking him to the point where the thinker wanted Vol’jin to live. The thinker is also of the opinion that obtaining Eyrir would save everyone. As Sylvanas in the Three Sisters Comic seems sad after hearing Vereesa’s comments it would mean that Azshara feels sorry for the three sisters!

Of course it would mean that Azshara is as volatile as ever and Sylvanas killed Vol’jin(as the angle of her arrow in the vision of the Vol’jin questline implies) before being replaced.

This would mean when having her Valkyr bring the Horde there was probably a report of Sylvanas not being present only for it to turn out “faulty” due to Azshara capitalizing on Sylvanas’s “absence”(in actuality Sylvanas being invisible).

It would also mean Sylvanas crowned Azshara(whose infiltration she caught wind of at the worst moment) Warchief just to get rid of her when she makes her big comeback!

Sylvanas would be seen as a hero for destroying the Void/Azshara just as the Confederates were for destroying the Zerg they brought to Chau Sara!

I actually like your idea more. Maybe the Azerite gathering is because Sylvanas is worried about not completing Helya’s end of the bargain? Because for all intents and purposes, Helya upheld hers. No matter what happened to the lantern, Helya gave Sylvanas what she wanted, so her end was complete. So the thought that Helya isn’t dead could be pushing Sylvanas to getting Azerite weapons and the like, and if Ashvane does have connections to Azshara, maybe she’s going to try and use Azshara as a meat shield?

Sylvanas v Azshara?

Why would Azshara protect Sylvanas? Omg I need this patch to hurry its backside up.

Oh Azshara wouldn’t, not without gain on her part.

Azshara is a woman who manipulated who is supposedly the smartest of the Old Gods. She was queen of a nation with dreams of being Sargeras’ consort.

Sylvanas…used to be tricky and intelligent. But most of her decisions in BfA are Garrosh levels of stupid and brutish, so I don’t know there. Before the new writing team, she was devilish and intelligent, cool and calculating and patient with everything that she did. We’re the original writers of Warcraft III in charge of her, watching her and Azshara go toe to toe with each other sounds like an incredible war of mind games and subterfuge. But current Sylvanas is pretty bland so I don’t think the writing will be as incredible as I’m envisioning it.

Still, I’m always hoping to be pleasantly surprised. Just never expecting it.
