Do you guys think is a good idea for Blizzard to focus the next expansion on updating old Zones like in Cataclysm?
I think it could work, if they make those zone the new max level content instead of just leveling zones.

I think so.
From my time spent 50-60 on the beta, we never actually go back to Azeroth. We get a few people from Azeroth that pop in to Oribos every now and then but our player character, in canon, never actually returns in 9.0.
Im hoping they keep that up for the lifetime of the expansion and the weird timey-wimeyness of the Shadowlands has us returning to an Azeroth we do not know.
I think they should update zones that make sense for the main story, but not the entire world. Early zones like Westfall, Duskwood, and Redridge don’t need to be remade since they are not vital to the overall narrative of WarCraft.
My day dream is for areas like Silvermoon and Gilneas to become relevant again, so if they want to update those areas, and actually have them be useful, I would not complain.
I recently went to Gilneas and just flew around, went through the tunnels, went into some buildings, even sent out a message to see if anyone else was there, and nothing. Was kind of a bummer. Was hoping I’d find a secret meetup or party or something, lol. Overall though I like that city and I wish the worgen and/or night elves would clean it up for use.
this was already confirmed.
they made a post confirming a time skip after shadowlands and that the world will have significantly changed by the time the player character gets back from the shadowlands.
most people ive talked to assume it will be thier way of resseting things further to open more doors to do anything they want with the story
it also gives them time to fix the world they broke
Make the barrens great again!!!
Make Chuck Norris jokes funny again!
I’d laugh if we return to Azeroth a 1000 years into the future.
While we are in Shadowlands time moves alot quicker so if we defeated Zovaal, we will come back to Azeroth decades later. We meet Lady Vashj in Maldraxxus and she remeber you killing and said she been into this zone for only few days ago for us that like years ago that we killed her. Even that DK mount quest giver from Wrath went to Shadowlands for only few days came back only to see that legion attack the broken isle. So imagine what going be like in Azeroth in 9.0.
Next Expansion its a battle between old friends, Turalyon vs Khadgar! Khadgar dies in the end.
does oribos have an AH? if so then i can finally use my hearthstone for its intended use
Actually Ion updated those comments to de-emphasize a time skip. A quote from a follow up interview summarized on wowhead (along with a link to the video)

Wouldn’t all the elves and space goats npcs be pretty much unchanged? I think with their lifespans, a thousand years isn’t that much.
I don’t recall this. Link?
Edit: someone beat me to it. Pretty sure that’s not true as they clarified.
if they added world quests that was hard to do then i would be down.
Eversong Woods and Ghostlands need to be highest on the list to update.
Showcase World of Warcraft 2. It’s pretty clear reality is likely screwed…let’s start anew in WoW2. Be it an alternate/parallel universe or some other planet entirely, Shadowlands is going to be hard to ‘beat’ in terms of content drama.
The most iconic zones are the earliest ones, at least for me. Being able to play in an updated Elwynn forest or Durotan would be cool.
If they are going to reuse a lot of old zones, I dont think is too much to expect a lot of the zones to be updated, they will have more time because they dont have to start from nothing.
Maybe when we come back from the shadowlands, durotar and the barrens might be covered in a forest, seeing as after you come back to the present timeline after saving the Mag’har orcs, you can see a couple of botani who also manage to snuck through and ran off into the background.
If you’re an engineer, yes.
