The way that Azerite traits currently work the best options are always spec specific. When you change specs your traits don’t change though so you literally just have no traits. There are a bunch of possible solutions but the easiest is just to change the traits when you switch specs. It could honestly even just be “If you chose a spec specific trait, when you switch specs that trait will change to the other specs spec specific trait.”
So I don’t get to have multiple different saved trait configurations but at least my gear does something when I switch specs.

They did this on purpose so you would keep farming for more azerite armors to fill your other roles. Any excuse to keep you running content.

Or maybe it’s so I’ll keep paying the Azerite reforger every time I want to do literally anything.

I’m weird in that I miss gear not changing primary stat on respec, and that there was clear “tank” and “healer” gear with +def and +mp5/spirit.
All gear being good for everything, and morphs to what you need when you change spec, I feel have been bad changes to the game.

even better…makes you make more chars lol. time played metrics.
Since I have turned to generic play outside the grrr, hate other side bfa crap I run several of same class.
this is my VHD. I have the horde DH too, pure havoc. they will legion dungeons based on needs and whims.
have 2 hunters. the VE is pure BM. the BE is pure MM. I’ll do a legion dungeon mythic solo with the BM first to make run easier, see if mechanics might be an issue. then…I say lets have the lonewolf MM do it no pet assistance.
Next up is solo raids. BM breaks me in easy, then MM for spice.
For me its not just the reforging…its the enchants and gems in sockets. these get pricey as hell sometimes. Few weeks back when the gear rain clouds poured gear on us I spent a fair bit of coin on the AH lol. happy for the upgrade but damn it took a toll on the gold reserves with 2 chars each side needing new gems/enchants.
I agree kind of. At this point strength, agility, and intellect don’t even feel like real things anymore. It’s just “primary stat”. They could just replace it with some new stat called “power” or something instead of trying to con us into thinking other things exist.
But if set bonuses and stuff aren’t going to exist anymore and they’re really going ahead with all this “one set of gear for all specs” mentality they need to bring Azerite traits in line with everything else.
At that point, just scrap Azerite gear and bring back Tier.
The system is designed for players to gather and have multiple sets to min/max stats and talents.
If you are doing and clearing content you shouldn’t be having issues. Its not the ilevel of the azerite gear that really matters. Its the talents.
Its not cost effective. Just gather multiple sets.

It’s designed this way to make your choices on your gear somewhat more important.
What you spec into with your gear is what you get, your decision of traits before going into a raid are generally different then say, a M+, meaning you have the decision to go with, go into the raid with some aoe traits or ST traits.
It’s basically added some forthought into it, which is a good thing honestly, and not only makes your choice of what specialization you will be using important, but also what type of role you will be taking, does my group generally have low ST and monster aoe? Well this weeks raid night I’ll use my ST traits.
This also does incentivize rerunning content for multiple sets, which again, isn’t a bad thing, it can be tedious, but has been apart of raiding for a while, now just a different form.

Well I am mostly interested in making traits follow spec changes, not so much in optimizing for type of content, although your points are well made. There was a time when tier set bonuses did follow spec changes and that seemed to me to be the ideal solution.
