when are we getting are next dose of big sweaty orc content? at this point, i feel like the game’s starting to wither away on us!
They’re not exactly lacking for time in the limelight. That’s like asking when we’re getting more night elf content.
Game has moved on to tiny, furry Vulpera content.
really? cause this last expansion was just so… blah. i think they’ve been missing the limelight for a long while now… since WoD/legion-ish atleast. i mean, bfa was all trolls and undead, shadowlands ALL undead, dragonflight was dracthyr and elves… not really a lot of orc focus in them.
oh sure, they were sprinkled in here or there, but nothing really focusing on them, or their aggressive attitude (which i miss, severely) …
I guess i tend to think of the presence of a single main character as representing their whole race. Because honestly, that’s often been the case. Like Saurfang’s prominence throughout bfa. It wasn’t just his story. So much of it was reflecting on the legacy of the horde, and the stories they’d told themselves about honor and glory. And what a lie so much of it was.
Then more recently we had the heritage questline for a bit more orc culture. And the new lore specially created for orc priests. To me it just always feels like they’re being taken care of lorewise. We’re keeping tabs and they keep advancing.
I do agree there hasn’t been anything of orcish aggression for a while. But that’s because it’s not what they are anymore. Or at least for now. I’m sure it wouldn’t take much to create a story featuring orc antagonists. So maybe one day. Maybe the remaining fel orcs in outland could do something cool.
I think you might be on the wrong website for that.
orc priests… how do i word this… for some players, there’s a certain race/class combo that just makes no sense to them (tauren paladins just worshipping the sun and getting light powers, goblin shamans making deals with the elements, etc) and to me, that’s orc priests. i don’t like’em, i won’t play’em, and i don’t care how blizzard bent the lore into a pretzel to make that work, it should’nt. orcs can’t access the light due to the fel-blood in their veins. it’s been in the lore forever, and now they’re just excusing their way around it. personally, i would’ve preffered if they said orc priests are all shadow priests (like they did with forsaken), would’ve made more sense to me, but the… whatever they did (i can’t remember, it’s something about a song from that mountain in outland) was so convoluted it just made me write’em off.
but to ge back to orcish aggressiveness, i’d preffer if we got orcish aggression as a good thing for once. like, some big threat’s coming to kill us all? orcs being the first ones to go all-in and attack it. the old ‘lodge-axe-in-skull-ask-questions-later’ sort of approach. weaken’em up long enough for everyone to figure out what the heck is going on and get ready to back up the orcs and take-down the threat.
Hasn’t the light made exceptions. Not defending it as you are right it feels odd.
But hey don’t knock me down like that. Is me bein a shaman really that bad? What if i was friends with elementals without trying to exploit them. Huh? Huh? Yea think goblins are all programmed the same way?
lol! don’t worry, i was’nt talking-crap about goblin shammies, personally, i think they make a lot of sense, using their gadgets and gizmos to help the elements (drilling gem-moles off earth elementals backs, sparking fires for fire elementals, digging geysers for water elementals, etc), i’m saying most player have issues with certain race/class combos, (and to be honest, i only thought of goblin shamans cause of a lore video i saw and how perplexed the maker was).
The lore for orc priests isn’t simply them worshipping and wielding the light. They aren’t human priests but green. It’s more about their reverence of their ancestors and a connection to the spirits of living things. The main npc talks about speaking to the elements within rather than the elements without.
It’s not an entirely new concept. Just one they’ve never really explored in game before. It’s tied into their shamanism, and goes back to the idea of there being five elements. Which came up in the book Lord of the Clans, published all the way back in 2001. Thrall meets the spirits of the world during his shaman training. Including the Spirit of the Wilds, which describes themselves as “the essence and souls of all living things.”
I wish.
Vulpera content in WoW is mostly player generated RP stuff lol
They should make a Vulpera expansion with a Vulpera main hero and Vulpera lore and call it “World of Warcraft: United we Unleash”.
UwU for short lol
I would legitimately giggle if they had a questline concerning a bunch of vulpera arguing over who has the best toe beans.
^ if that happened then this game is doomed lol. i’d like if make actual nice stories for the vulpera and not make them the cute furball race that is hated by everyone bc theyre just cute…that’ll just make em dumb lookin lol. they need to make better storylines n stuff in general tbh
Probably not soon, but we can always hope.
I have a suspicion that everyone knows what would sell, but there’s a contingent in pop culture that refuses to accept it.
We can bicker about the implications of masculinity and aggression on culture or we can just admit that it’s cool and leave it at that. Too many people in dev studios are trying to convince the fans that they’re “wrong” for wanting grim-dark / male power fantasy type memes, because it somehow portrays females as “weak” in comparison.
I think these people are wrong. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to please your fans. We used to call it, “Catering to your audience.” Instead, of trying to shame them into changing into something… else.
Trying to please everyone just ends up satisfying no one.
nods
we should only please the people wanting hulking, sweating, flexing orcs.
That’s a completely different game.
In a game setting that was built off of orcs, humans, and allied races slaughtering each other… yes, yes we should.
