They should do real money gambling. If they partnered with one of the already existing online gambling companies, they could increase AWC viewership by a lot. They’d broadcast it in casinos in their sports gambling sections. More people would have a vested interest overall if each AWC cycle was like it’s own ncaa tournament bracket.
They could/should also do a seasonal RSS tournament with the best people from the RSS ladder that season, individually stream each match, and allow real money gambling on those as well. You’d get odds based on your xp and record and you’d get a cut of whatever was bet on your match if/when you won. Maybe also have tiers of rewards that happen after so many rounds of elimination and stuff.

A lot of people who do not play wow would gamble on it. People love gambling.
No one would care about WOW arena. They got sports to gamble on.
Needs to be in game gold.
If real money is involved, I think there would be a lot of accusations when a favored team loses.
For example, imagine all the grief Luminosity Gaming would have gotten this AWC season.
That situation is actually taken extremely seriously. You go to prison for conspiracy and tampering with gaming (gambling). It’s also something that gets regularly audited. You can’t just buy a race horse and have it throw while betting against it. If you try to use other people to reroute the winnings, congratulations, you’ve added money laundering and racketeering to the charge.
Not saying they don’t exist, but someone would have to be insanely addicted to gambling to put real world money on an area game. Arena is an incredibly niche part of a 20 year old mmo, ain’t no way this ever happens
Spectating low mmr games and betting gold on them is something I’d go broke watching.

gambling is probably one of the worst things you can do. i know a few people irl with horrible gambling addictions.
Gambling is trash for the low IQ. Knowing the WOW scene match fixing would occur instantly.

Sports gamblers don’t (always) care about the sport they’re gambling on. Think about horse or greyhound racing. Nobody would ever watch those sports if not for the gambling aspect. Especially when new sports open it up, it creates a huge burst of interest. Namely, gamblers think that vegas doesn’t understand the sport well enough to get the odds right, so there’s a better chance at the beginning to beat odds.
They’re going to have addictions whether WoW profits from it or not. Also imagine it’s your first R1 shuffle season, you get invited to the post-season rss tournament. Your odds are 100:1 because you get matchmade into Trill or someone. Your cut of per match winnings just by going 2-4 in that set would be insane because of the odds.
I have bet $2k on Mexican Horse Chariot races at 3am in Vegas before… I would def bet on WoW

I just think since the goblins always talk about gambling, we should implement it into the AWC arenas for in game gold.
