How come in the AWC it’s just content creators and teams that are not even rank 1.(speaking on just NA) or even on the first page of the leaderboard. I feel like the most interesting comps would be the top contenders in the bracket and most interesting. Just me?
its not worth it for a lot of top players to bother trying to win, the money just simply isn’t worth the amount of hours put in
because they signed up on the arena tournament realm website, competed and finished in a qualifying position. Live Ladder and AWC are two different beasts
You clearly don’t know how the awc works. You do have to compete and qualify for a spot - the ones you see on youtube have beaten so many qualifying rounds. Yes, they’re “”“content creators”"" (cringey term but whatever), but they are actually good enough to win qualifying games.
AWC prizes are really bad so a lot of R1s aren’t even interested.
AWC players often don’t play the ladder for rating, they play it for practice.
There’s a lot of other reasons. I asked Magnusz why he doesn’t compete once and he mainly cited money and timing.

AWC is garbage, all they do is play the meta over and over RMP over and over, If you don’t play the meta you basically lose. They should make it where you cannot play the same comp each series to mix it up so its actually fun and not just RMP or something like that. Maybe more people would watch instead of 3k.

Being good on ladder doesn’t always nesscearily translate into competitive/tournament.
There’s also not a reason to maintain rating right now outside some practice because the only thing that really matters is ending in the top x% when the season ends in 3-5 months.
Also, as others have said, it’s a lot of time for little money. Better to focus on streaming or something.

The meta doesn’t exist because people only play it, people only play the meta because you’re gimping yourself otherwise.

I know 100% its on blizzard. I am not blaming the players. I mean they are playing for money they are going to play what is best I get that. Even Cdew said that they are basically forced to play RMP to even be able to win.

Yeah even if it wasn’t AWC if we could just peep the top 50 teams in the game and watch the games and just see the craft would be more interesting to me and be more content then AWC.
why would u wanna compete for below mcdonalds minimum wage
