As a casual player, by that I mean mostly questing and world quest, M+ never and Dungeons not very often and Raids just a bit. I am an affliction and love playing that spec. I do play Destruction once in a blue moon. I also do the Delves a lot.
I am having a problem getting past the second half of Awakening the Machine done. I am at Lvl 600 on Item Lvl. c.s. 14%, Haste 16% and Mastery at 51%. I have Hellcaller as my 3rd talent tree. I use Weavercloth Bandages to heal between sets, takes time to heal Kuldas but it works. I use Agony to pull then Wither and Mortal Coil. When more then 3 mobs I use Seed of Corruption. I also use my blue berry as my pet.
Is everyone having problems with this weekly ? Please let me know how you do it, what spells you use and if I need to change my rotation for this encounter. I have mixed it up trying to find the right combo of spells but I can’t seem to find the right one.

I havent tried it as affliction yet but using shadowburn as destro makes it easy. Small mobs are 1 shot most of the time. I use my felhound and howl of terror for the caster guys since sometimes they spawn close together and blow up once interrupted.
Using CC on the fire casters insta-kills them (kicking the channel does too but since you’re using blueberry, you won’t have a kick).
Stand in front of the stationary lightning beam.
Use your defensives early and often if it seems like you’ll be eating the lightning channel for awhile as you prioritize other mobs.
Killing the medic bots drops green items that heal you and the dude in the center for a ton. Space these out a bit so you waste minimal overhealing but keep little homie healthy.
Wave 19 is harder than wave 20. Throw a dps potion or a bloodlust here (with drums) if you have it.
Keep the main guy on focus so you see his health.
Healbots will drop health that can heal him, use those when his health is below half health.
Use felpuppy /shadowfury & Mortal coil (works too if I am not wrong) to interrupt the caster guys, they will die insta. Soak the lightning as much as you can and use heal pots / Darkpack/healthstone/unending resolve when needed.
You might want to try demonology here if you are having trouble but at ilvl600 you shouldn’t really be having any trouble.
Ilvl 606, affliction soul harvester. The thing is so easy I fall asleep doing it. Learn to use dark pact more and your demonic health stones.
Also use mortal coil and fear to get rid of the fire dudes channeling. Kill the beam towers fast but getting in front of it and dpsing them down.
This beam friendly fires so you can have an enemy block the beam, Your pet also blocks it.
My warlock profile
As Affliction, thing is easy
As Destro, this is what I usually do.
- Have your voidwalker on defensive at all times.
- Lava casters: Use fear or another interrupt (For w/e reason this kills them)
- Put full talents to Shadowburn and use on the smaller enemies. You barely even need to move.
- Explosive ones die asap. Finish them off with SB.
- Heal bots: These do not attack and just heal themselves. Kill these last or as needed. (Low priority.)
- Nullbots: Kill these the moment you see them. (Top priority.)
- Stationary shock machine: Either stand in line of sight between the earthen or kill on sight.
- Mechasuit: dump your chaos bolts + SB.
- BIG construct: (Wave 20) Infernal and dump everything.
What part are you struggling with? Are you taking too much damage or is the dwarf dying or both?
I’ve been doing it as demonology since the week I hit 80, so probably around ilvl 560-570
The enemies have specific mechanics that you can exploit. Ignitheus has some good suggestions but I’ll add my own here.
- Stand in the center when each wave begins, a few feet away from the dwarf, and use fears to instantly kill the corrupted machinists
- The swarm bots are low priority but start out targeting the dwarf - tag them early with a curse or agony to not have to worry about the dwarf’s health
- The explosive bomberbots start by targeting you. They die when you stand on top of them (after a few second cast) so you don’t need to damage them at all. Their detonation can hurt other enemies, so try and pull them on top of high priority targets like nullbots
- Try to use the hazard electric beam to kill enemies by pulling them into the path of the beam
- The healbots drop heals that work on you and the dwarf simultaneously - leave these scattered around the room and pick them up when you need to
- Corrupted machinists (because you can instantly kill them) > Nullbots > Malfunctioning Pylon >> the rest in terms of priorities

As someone else said, just spec destro and let shadowburn carry you through the fight. It’s totally doable as aff, but requires more work and is slower.

I can’t thank you all enough. I made it all the way this time. Between standing in the lighting beam, Fear and standing close to the center of the room all gave me the tools to finish this all the way. You guys are the best.
