It’s just a thought that occurred to me now, as I observe this Awakening raids thing.
WHAT IF we had this “Awakening” in raids from previous expansions? Maybe it would be a good option to bring greater PvE variety and itemization to the game while also increasing player retention. (And to introduce such raids to newer players who didn’t have the opportunity to play them in their time).
It would work in the same system currently in Season 4 where each week is a new raid that receives the “Awakening” system.
Sure, maybe some older items would need some balancing tweaks to not be OP, but still.
I know something like this is unlikely to happen, but I don’t know, it could be fun.

that would make things more interesting and give some older raids evergreen status for ppl that aren’t just farming old cosmetics

Literally posted this exact idea in a post about reused content. The “awakened” idea is just a massive waste of potential and could be used to breath new life into older content as a season 4 filler. Having an older raid becoming ‘awakened’, new update loot tables, maybe a refresh in some mechanics, re-tuning them for today.
Its something XIV does with their “Unreal” trials, they take an old fight and remaking it for current level cap and cycle through them as side content you can do for rewards, even changing/modifying old mechanics that wouldnt work with todays class/job toolkits.
I think doing that as an end expansion season 4 to give people something fresh to bite into rather than doing the same three raids they spent the last year and a half doing to death.

Yeah, would genuine love to “re-play” Ahn’Qiraj and defeat C’thun with our actual characters/gear.
Id hope the raid quests (like the AQ armor quests as an example) would be “awakened” as well. Give more than just fighting the same boss you’ve fought before. Maybe the quests give current season currency (flightstones, etc) or a new currency to purchase gear from a new vendor like the bullion in season 4. There’s endless possibilities and tons of old raids, blizz just needs to tune fights and loot drops.
