So, with the changing of the guard so to speak with the aspects, why did Norzdormu not use this chance to step down as an aspect and allow say, chromie to become the new aspect of time. Then there is no Murozond. I feel like its that simple. Why has no other dragon suggested this?
Well, I’d like to point out that the Dawn of the Infinite dungeon has already made it so that Nozdormu avoids being Murozond. Not much of a need to double-avoid it.

Nozdormu already has an heir, Anachronos. If he were ever to step down it should be him that take over, not Chromie.
Anyway, the Murozond plot was hastily and badly wrapped up already. It’s over now, despite them completely changing it from a tragedy about the inevitability of fate into “lolcorruption”. Seriously DF’s lowest point.

I mean we have stopped Murozond multiple times now… it doesnt mean hes gone and done. Removing Norzdormus aspects power tho would get rid of him.
In addition, yes Anachronos may be the heir but low key what has he done in these trying times. Chromie is the one directly confronting the issues, Chromie is the one fighting to save Norzdormu. Who really deserves to be the leader of the dragonflight.

“lolcorruption” sucks bro. It could have been wrapped up better but principally there’s nothing wrong with Murozond being defeated for good.

I don’t have a problem with them ending the Murozond plotline, my problem is how they did it.
Murozond was supposed to be the result of Nozdormu fearing his own death which Aman’thul showed him when he got his powers, and trying to change history to stay immortal. That was what we knew for over a decade, that it was about the tragedy of Nozdormu trying to avoid his preordained fate only to bring it about himself (as he said in End Time when we kill Murozond, that was the death Aman’thul showed him). Then Dragonflight tossed that all aside and just made it “actually he got CORRUPTED!!!”, because that’s Blizzard’s tired old parlor trick that they fall back on way too damn much.
The entire questline and dungeon were also filled with way too many jokes, making it impossible to take seriously and erasing any tension it may have had. Plus Chromie hogging all the spotlight while Noz’s wife was hosting unimportant side content and his son wasn’t even mentioned.

Per the original lore Murozond would have arisen after Deathwing’s death, since Deathwing was said to have killed the other Aspects in the End Time dungeon and the Twilight of the Aspects novel. And since the Aspects lost their powers after Deathwing’s death, it’s clear that Nozdormu having his aspectral powers wasn’t a factor in the rise of Murozond.
Now when it comes to Murozond himself, it’s actually debatable if Nozdormu becoming Murozond was truly prevented. It’s important to remember that the Dawn of the Infinite dungeon itself shows as that the rise of Murozond in DF wasn’t natural since the proto dragon Nozdormu was changed and the timeline broke to the point where a Tyr who never died was a champion of the Infinite.
Ultimately the dungeon gave Nozdormu hope that his fall into Murozond wasn’t an inevitability. However the Nozdormu and Eternus quest chain does have Nozdormu putting pressure on the timeline and ends with him adding that Eternus had a point. While the quest chain ends with the idea of peace between the Bronze and Infinite Dragonflights, Nozdormu’s actions showed me that him becoming Murozond wasn’t completely off the table.
Who knows perhaps by The Last Titan we will learn that Murozond as merely acting in a role to help prepare us for the Titans return as our enemies. Thus turning a moment of “Another Aspect corrupted story” into a “noble sacrifice” storyline or something.

Personally, I believe that him welcoming the Infinite Dragons back into the Bronze Flight is the first step of him turning evil, that’s the only way that plot point makes any sense to me at least.

There is a reason why the dungeon is called “DAWN of the Infinite”. Nozdormu will become Murozond. Even Nozdormu knows it. He just doesn’t know when. But the road to hell is paved with good intentions. And considering he is going to allow some, minor, changes to the timeline if they are to the benefit to others, that will most likely be his doom.
Remember, Nozzy went into a depressed state when he found out that not only is he the leader of the infinite dragonflight, but there was no timeline where he wasn’t. (Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects).

It’s gotta happen. we didn’t spend 10+ years just for it to end in a less than awesome dungeon. It has to be big. It needs to be big. It’s been a low hanging thread of a story for over a decade. I want to hope Blizzard finishes it in some great grand way in the future.
I am hopeful, but i am absolutely not holding my breath. I’d be dead long before that time comes

I can only wish I were as optimistic as this, but I spent 10+ years with Bolvar wearing a helmet that was turning him evil, only for the payoff to end in a cinematic for a terrible expansion.

The whole under message of this expac is that the titans may not be so trustworthy at all, and that vision of him turning to murozond was given by Aman’thul himself the worst titan of the pantheon.
So i don’t think that the visions he got were true. They are possibilities but our timeline has proven to be dificult for the cosmic forces to meddle with.
I think murozond is done for the time being but the plot still exists and might come back when a raid boss is desperate needed
Murozond as a character could easily be reframed as a well intentioned anti-villain anyway. Take his last words for example:
Murozond yells: You know not what you have done. Aman’Thul… What I… have… seen…
Not to mention his intro quote: “You crawl unwitting, like a blind, writhing worm, towards endless madness and despair. I have witnessed the true End Time. This? This is a blessing you simply cannot comprehend”.
Machinations of the Old Gods or him finding out what the One True Timeline’s endgame really is? A revision could easily be applied.
