One thing I would like to see is blizzard properly address avoidance cap in TBC by having some diminishing returns on dodge.
I know there will be rogues that will be sad that the meme is gone but blizzard really should address the fact that once you hit T6, you can start to get completely unhittable.
Blizzard addressed this in sunwell with a hack dodge debuff in sunwell, but the correct answer is to just have diminishing returns at a certain point so you cant become completely unhittable.
Druids with proper trinkets can get to this point for short periods of time and are close to it without the trinkets.
This will not effect on paladins hitting their 102.4 crush immunity because they do not stack 1 stat to get to there, they stack multiple so it should not effect them. Just have it not effect block rating at all so warriors and paladins can hit their cap for mechanics without issue. Block is not even close to being on the same level as dodge, parry already scales way worse than dodge and wont be an issue. That way we wont have stupid metas like rogues tanking Illidan and mother and basically every other youtube video is a rogue doing this. And druids will actually be corrected a bit.
Bottom line, instead of having a flat 20% debuff in 1 instance, just have dodge have diminishing returns at higher agility and dodge ratings so that it basically equals out.
Druids getting 75%+ dodge is absurd, but they can get 85-90% and even higher with trinket usage they get over 102.4%. That is why they had to put the sunwell debuff in anyway. I would just like them to fix properly, like they did later.
I’m curious as to how you plan to mech up this DR such that it won’t affect Paladins but will affect Druids/Rogues.
Before Sunwell Radiance, Prot Warriors hit crush immunity with Shield Block while wearing nothing but a gray shield. Only Paladins care about what gear they’re wearing to get uncrushable.
Re-doing the entire tank stat meta for the purpose of eliminating a meme way of doing a couple bosses is a huge price to pay for not a lot of benefit.
You already said you wanted it to not affect Paladins/Warriors. You want dodge to DR enough to be equivalent to Sunwell Radiance, but Sunwell Radiance affected everyone. Those two statements are contradictory.
The same way they did it for armor and they did it in later expansions, have diminishing returns at higher ratings…
They can simply just have the DR only start happening once at a higher number.
The whole point of diminishing returns is at high ratings.
Paladins for example will not have 50%+ dodge rating. They will cap out somewhere around 30-35% if they go for it. So the DR wont effect them as much if at all.
Your point? you can be uncrushable as a paladin somewhere between pre-raid and T4. IIRC there is a a way to be uncrushable in pre-raid gear. So what is the problem exactly? Since we are talking about T6 level gearing, if you can crush immune yourself pre-raid, you can absolutely still do it at T6 levels of gear, even with sunwell radiance.
It wont redo the meta at all. it just keeps druids from being nearly unhittable outside of sunwell. they push close to 90% dodge in full BIS (depending on what you consider BIS) so when they are doing non-sunwell content they are absurd.
So have the number lower so it still effects warriors and paladins. You can still hit crush immune ether way by T6 levels of gear. IIRC warriors and paladins can be crush immune with specific block pieces without even needing to hit shield block or holy shield. Warriors and paladins do not stack dodge the way druids (and rogues memeing) do, so it doesn’t matter to them. Druids stack a ton of AGL and some dodge, it gets out of hand to the point where they can nearly ignore all incoming damage. Thus negating their massive health and armor.
As for rogues it is not “a couple of fights” It is any fight that has melee damage, there will be guilds that just use a rogue to tank anything they can get away with that does no have serious secondary sources of damage. We have all seen the lengths guilds will go to to cheese a fight for a slightly faster time and those strategies will trickle down to less hardcore guilds, just like every other meta does. Because humans are humans and will do human things. Save the “well just don’t do it” or “my guild wont do it” nonsense.
I am sure no one in your guild ever considered world buffs or consumable stacking and did all the content without issue too.
Edit: to put a finer point on it, I would rather see the meta changed a small amount, than deal with the expansion in the later days of it be memed to death by people taking advantage of this… quirk of dodge not having a diminishing return.
