Average Player Perspective

I only raid long enough to see the content on the highest difficulty it stays actually enjoyable to play at (mythic is stupid because of perfection play, and heroic can get tedious with certain mechanics).

I only do M+ up to 18, because that’s as high as Blizzard has seen fit to incentivize me. And before you ask, a portal to the dungeon entrance isn’t worth the difference between an 18 and a 20…because there’s portals to very near every dungeon entrance already…

I don’t PvP because there will ALWAYS be someone with no life waiting to show me how inadequate I am at pushing buttons on a keyboard–I guess I’ll just confess now to having a real life…

I play EVERY class in whatever spec is strongest at the time. Yes, that means playing META sometimes–especially when my 452 ret pally can out-dps my 467 ele shaman. (Also, it’s INCREDIBLY frustrating to try to play every class with gear locked up as much as it is).

I do not, I repeat DO NOT pay for this game in any sense. Since the implementation of tokens, I have paid for my sub since the beginning of Shadowlands with gold. I also bought both Dragonflight AND War Within (both epic editions) with tokens. Blizzard has made ZERO dollars directly from me as a customer for almost 4 years now, and that’s because they made it that way–among other reasons.

I’m not saying any of this to prove something right or wrong. I don’t care that Blizz is “making more off of my choice not to pay for a sub myself”. I’m saying this for two reasons:

  1. When the gold dries up, I stop playing. Full stop.
  2. My sub is about to expire on the 20th, and I have ZERO interest in using another token until War Within, because I’m not interested in playing the same raids for another 6 months, or the same dungeons, or the same tired, unbalanced, lazy excuse for game design classes.

I’d love to have a discussion with a real Blizzard employee about my perspective as an average player. I’d also love to start pouring money into this game that I’ve played for 20 years. But, alas I’m stuck with forum trolls and the internet. So, here we are…

this is such a naive position.

they’ve made more from you than they would have if you were paying them directly.

did you also quit when shadowlands fated raids were out also?

It’s ok, it’s a long post. I’m sure you were just trying to be #first.

What changes do you think would benefit the game most, Recalshaman?

I think I played for about a month (one token worth), just to see what they were like with the “raid affix”.

I share several content creator’s perspectives right now when they say they don’t want to have to learn new stuff from old content. Either make new things, or just give me the old stuff the same as it was.

Just the kiss, not the curse.

Honestly, I’m sort of excited for the Fated Season in the sense it’s going to be my catchup season for other things.

I have all the teleports from 20s this expansion, which means I’ll have them all already for Season 4, so no reason to push 20s. The raids will be easier since my guild has done AoTC all 3 seasons, so less worry about that.

What I can do during Season 4 is:

  • Catch up on mog/mount runs
  • Farm reps I put to the side such as the Avowed (SL) and Cobalt Assembly
  • Go back to Zereth Mortis and farm Synthesis Motes to collect all the pets/mounts from the Synthesis Forge
  • Play other games.

WoW takes up a lot of my gaming time, always has and probably always will, but Fated Seasons are a nice way to introduce something minor to work on for end game and refocus the rest of my energy into other things.

That being said, I really do not want a Fated Season every expansion. I hope this will be the last one.

Well, I do a little bit of PvP but not much since Alliance is utterly overwhelming and invulnerable. All the Horde PvP modes come with enlistment bonus, but we lose 3/4 of the time

Solo shuffle is my best mode as BGs are either insta defeats or excruciatingly difficult as in my last AB was within 50 points and we lost. Having PvP vendors is great. No more being insta killed. I’m comfortable at 479.

No mythic above 10. Normally 5 to 7. I have tons of useless crests or whatever to upgrade my gear. Mythic plus would be more fun if I could run the dungeon of my choice not whatever random key.

I don’t make enough money to purchase tokens. Been on 6 month sub for a long time

I haven’t made alts since they borked heirlooms. It’s just not fun anymore and I quit the alts about level 20. I had someone laugh at me thinking that this was my alt when I told them it was my main and they had higher HP in leather class by 100k

I don’t raid above normal because it takes more time than I can offer.

Your whole attitude screams for people to troll you because you sound at best very frustrated with the game and at worst there’s a little arrogance in there as well.

Then you end your rant of displeasure by posting on the forum with “forum trolls”.

Once again priming said trolls to target you. So what was your point guy?

I would love for a blizzard employee to sit down with you and completely ruin the game I play.

All of your points are points based on how you feel it should change.

No one cares if you quit. Hell I doubt anyone at blizzard cares if you quit.

The truth is look at all the resources the game has. Raider IO, wowlogs, Murdock io, I can go on.

The average player in my opinion and obviously wows opinion is anyone who can get aotc, or key mount. Because these two activities are designed for the average player.

Arguably keys at 18+ and mythic raids are for the above average player.

LFR & sub 5 keys are for alts and people you do not like any stress but want to see the content.

Normal raids are for people who want a little challenge but don’t want to wipe all night to one boss.

Now i wish a dev would get with me about being an average player. This way I can explain to them that we need to delete any key under an 18 because you can clear an 18 in 447 gear as long as you have a general understanding of your rotation. I think we need to get rid of normal, and lfr raids. Start everyone in heroic. Leave mythic as is.

they made more money off of somebody. He was indirectly responsible sure.

Gearing shouldn’t be EASIER, but it should be SIMPLER and definitely make more sense. I don’t want gear for free! I DO want to be able to gear an alt regardless of when I decide to play it (that means catch-up needs to, at the very least, feel almost instantaneous). Otherwise, I’m just playing a weaker character and getting carried by friends or strangers for however long RNG decides to shun me.

Just one example of simpler gearing is: I should be able to choose what gear slot I want to drop out of GV. “Bad luck” protection isn’t very good protection when I’ve had bad luck all week getting a belt, but good luck getting rings…only to have 3 rings show up in my GV choices and no belt.

There should be more raid variation. Give me three or four 2-3 boss raids instead of ONE 8-10 boss raid per patch. Hell, you could even merge raids and dungeons through scaling…that’s a wild potential. Imagine: Do you want to do Amirdrassil as a dungeon? Cool 5-man it is. Do you want to do Algethar Academy as a raid? What size?

Most important to ME specifically: I want to have direct access to Blizzard without ranting on a forum that feels more like an insane asylum run by the inmates. When I have a “good idea” I’d love to be able to reach out to Blizzard and say, “hey what about this?” and not because I think the game should have everything I want, or because I think all my ideas are good. Hell, I don’t care if their response is “no bro, that’s dumb”. I want to stop feeling like an ancient greek forsaken by the god I pray to.

All million+ of us, or just you?

Frankly I hope they never notice you because I hate pretty much all of your ideas.

There’s definitely enough gold quests available, even for one character to earn enough to pay for a token each month. I’m talking about raw gold farming, not farming to sell to AH or stupid stuff like downloading addons.

Blizz’s attempt to make gearing “easier” this expansion is a clunky mess in my experience. Almost always I don’t have enough flightstones, or not enough crests. Or I’m right on the cusp of not needing a lower crest, but can’t upgrade them to the next tier because of 1-2 pieces of gear at the lower level that prevents me from getting the achievement to unlock upgrading lower crests.

They made differentiated crests to…prevent “good” players from just farming the crap out of low keys for the same currency to upgrade higher gear. Yet, most high level players are now experiencing an issue where it’s actually better for them to farm “lower” keys (like 20-22 keys instead of 25+ keys) because of the time it takes and the exponential increase in difficulty all for…the same amount of crests/flightstones for succeeding. What sense does that crap make?

Don’t even get me started on alts. Thank GOD I have one of everything at 70. The state of leveling in this game is in a worse condition than gearing. I can’t imagine being a new player trying to level an alt because they had the bad luck of choosing a shaman as their first character.

Well, when you do have a good idea, that you didn’t post in this forum that

Go ahead and hit the big red  in-game and hit submit feedback.

Nothing you described comes even close to an “average player.”

Right, because that’s a doorway straight to Blizzard and not the trashcan every business ever puts in place for people to “vent”. I know a suggestion box when I see one…and the thing is DUSTY…

So you’re coming to a place that no one reads? They barely post

Well, then I must be below-average because on my server, whenever I queue for keys, 90% of listings are 23 or higher. Been that way for about 3 weeks now.

Same thing with raids. Didn’t get AotC or CE within a month of the patch? Good luck getting into a PuG.

My take is that in order for WoW to deliver on the increased expansion release cadence, they will remove the S4 stuff in the upcoming trilogy, and they’ve been trialing this in SLands and DF from at least a narrative perspective. It appears the expansion story concludes by S3, and S4 is a pause - again narratively speaking.
